Contest: ENTER TV & Media Avatar Contest: Talking Animals

Showdown

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Animals that talk. Anthropomorphic animals are okay. Sci-Fi & Fantasy are okay.
Disney, Looney Tunes, Hanna Barbera, Nickelodeon, etc. Can be animated, or live- action.
It's not necessary that humans understand them, just the viewer or audience have to understand them.

Edit: I will allow 2 entries per person.

My entry is from an obscure one from a cartoon (based on a toy line) my sisters love when they were young children...

Poochie

It's about Poochie, the little pink talking dog, and her robot sidekick trying to save a boy from an ancient Egyptian secret society. And yes, that really is the actual plot.

Do these guys really talk? I was under the impression we were reading their thoughts...

Snoopy is certainly having conversations with Woodstock, even if the reader can't understand Woodstock. Snoopy also occasionally teases the neighbor's cat with nothing but his words, and he still gets a reaction out of him (it's a he, Snoopy has been referring to the cat as male at some points). Furthermore, while the Peanuts kids can't understand Snoopy's talking, they are able to read his writing.

And, finally, @Showdown clearly stated in the opening post, that the deciding factor is not whether humans inside the story can understand the animal, but whether the audience understands it.

I don't know about all iterations of Garfield, but this one I got my screen grab from, and the other short films in that line, Garfield talks (without moving his lips) and other cats and dogs talk and they have conversations with each other. Except Odie, who is appearently too stupid to talk; Garfield was right all along about Odie. Well, not too dumb, as he understands Garfield.

I always interpreted the times other characters understood Garfield's thoughts as Garfield using telepathy. i.e. between other animals and occasionally with Jon.

I will assume Garfield and Snoopy are communicating in a non-human speech, since they carry on conversations with other animals. Therefore, they are allowed.

There have been numerous instances in the Peanuts specials where Snoopy laughs, cries, howls, makes noises in imitation of other animals, and even expresses his opinion of how Lucy tastes when he licks her face (kinda yucky, based on his "bleah!" reaction).

2nd entry

South Park's Christmas Critters

With Satanic worships, sacrificial rituals, blood orgies, etc, they maybe one of the most evil creatures in all of the South Park series.
