Farrell says that it's "best-case scenario" for Price and he's not getting surgery, but resting for a week or two.

So ... he gets Tommy John next month?

Anyone interested in the world baseball classic? Starts tomorrow morning. I just wish the regular season started sooner.

    Are they still doing that?

Go fuck yourself, Arrieta. If a dude takes one of your pitches for a ride, he's earned the right to strut, just as you've earned the right to strut if you own him on three straight sinkers.

I want to see a batter steal 2nd, 3rd, and home on three straight pitches after eating a retaliation pitch.

Then he taunts the pitcher a second time.

If it's a walk-off steal, he throws his helmet directly into the pitcher's dick.

    Tim Tebow: 0-2, 2K, 1 GIDP.

Standing ovation before and after every at-bat.

That he's getting so much attention from the media and fans is proof at how utterly garbage MLB is at marketing its actual stars. Tebow, NFL washout and minor-league scrub, has more name recognition to the casual fan than Rick Porcello, reigning AL Cy Young winner (which is still really weird to type).

    MLB needs another Griffey.

They've got Trout, Bryant, Rizzo, Kershaw, Harper, Stanton, McCutchen, Donaldson, MadBum, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. There's no shortage of easily marketable stars. They just absolutely suck at promoting their own league.

Welp, they aren't allowed to show any form of personality. When they do, they get told/scolded about the unwritten rules of the game. So the league can only market on players Stats and outside of some sabermetric geeks, no one really cares. The players are stuck in their 'athlete' speak. About giving 100%, about how tough of a competitor the pitcher was or is and not doing anything to upset the status quo.

I realize it was Nelson Cruz running, but Baez was celebrating before the ball even got there.

    ...and now he's hurt...

This is why I don't like this tournament.

Love him on the basepaths and in the field but my God I wish he'd learn how to stop swinging at pitches about a half-dozen ZIP codes away from the zone.

He's already improved in that area. Not perfect obviously, but better than 2015 which was better than 2014.

He used to be a half dozen time zones away.

Kinsler's dream, everyone in suits on the diamonds, no smiling, every hit or strike out congratulated with a firm hand shake, no slaps on the back though, that's showing off.

It's only spring training, but the Cubs just squeaked out a 22-4 win over the Reds.

In other Cubs news, they're looking to trade Matt Szczur, because they've got a roster jam and he's out of options, and internally they're concerned about the volatile unknown that is La Stella's reaction to a potential demotion (since he threw that month-long tantrum last year).

    Fuck Tommy La Stella.

It's not like they'll get a lot for either one, so just dump/trade LaStella.

Epstein and / or Hoyer have this weird love of La Stella, sort of like how Maddon has this inexplicable fascination with Chris Coghlan. At least their views on La Stella are a little defensible, in that he was an on-base machine in his limited playing time last year. But at the same time, what sort of message do you send to the rest of the team when you're making decisions around the happiness of a guy who stayed at home to pout for almost a month after being sent to Iowa?
