Please Finish and Release "Torment of Destiny"

No updates.

If James is working on the postproduction of any episodes, he's doing it sub rosa. He hasn't made me privy to any efforts.

For what it's worth, "Change of Command" did get "finished" and I've seen it in its entirety. If it's ultimately not released, it's because it just isn't very good compared to our later works, *not* because it was never really finished.

It's a vintage fan film, people will appreciate it it doesn't matter if it isn't HD

Was about to post a lengthy message but Danlav05 pretty much sums it up for me. While I also understand NV would be reluctant to release a work they consider inferior to their current ability. Guess I understand both sides and merely have my own desires.

I would hate to disappoint our cast, production team, fans and donors by NOT releasing a fan film just because it "wasn't as good" as a previous effort.
True, but it seems with "Change of Command" (sorry to keep bringing that up, just a personal favourite "want to see" story), it was shot after In Harms Way (and never released), but after the release of To Serve All My Days and later, World Enough and Time, it was decided that it simply wasn't up to scratch anymore. Which is a real shame.

As I remember it, the vignettes were conceived as a way to satisfy the audience waiting for To Serve All My Days after a lengthy gap after In Harms Way. In the end, only Center Seat was released.

It's not the first time though. I seem to remember around the time of the release of To Serve All My Days, Come What May was removed from the website and retroactively removed from the episode list. That said, I can completely understand not wanting an "inferior" work to be publicly available.

They tried to scrub their pilot, too, but most people have enjoyed watching it for what it is, anyways. I would like to see the old unreleased vignettes, regardless of quality.

Of the four vignettes shot, three have been released: "Center Seat," "No Win Scenario," and "Going Boldly." Only "Change of Command" is still unreleased. It was finished, but just isn't all that great. Maybe best to let it slowly fade away.

Greg, does the Kickstarter require you to release only one or all three productions that filming was finished for? Or does the museum contract with CBS/Paramount forbid their release?
I would imagine Cawley's license with CBS probably prevents him from doing anything Trek-related without their permission since they are now essentially business partners on the set tour.

So, I guess the answer to the question, "When will the rest of New Voyages' films be released?" is most likely, "As long as Cawley is in business with CBS, they won't be."

And I cannot. Star Trek is what it is, warts (like Plato's Stepchildren) and all.
At Excelsior we tried to split the difference. Our pilot is not included in the regular episode listing, but it is available along with a thorough explanation of why we treated it that way. Basically, if someone unfamiliar with our series hears it first, they might decide not to listen any further. However, we do think it's a valuable reference piece that helps illustrate just how far we have come and how the series evolved into what it is today.

How do the actors who appeared in it feel? The crew who volunteered? Maybe they'd like to see it out there. It's not like it's going to effect your Nielsen ratings even if it's bad. ;)
