The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Oh! and @Astra, I haven't forgotten about the miniature pie I owe you. Sorry it's been taking so long, things got in the way. I'll send it as soon as I can.

~Captain Murdock!
Hey, great to have you back! I missed you! If you have some time, scroll back a few pages, I also have lots of new stuff to show, new backgrounds, new Tribbles, and have started collecting and customizing in the "Gotham" world now.

Your new sci-fi background looks very interesting, you made it from pieces? Awesome!

Do you know already about the Extreme Sets backgrounds? There are many different themes. It's just cardboard but can be set up in many different ways and looks great when photographed. I plan to get the alley for the Gotham and Arrow figures: http://www.extreme-sets.com/

Here are some picture examples of what can be done: http://news.toyark.com/2017/01/26/extreme-sets-deranged-alleyway-pop-photo-review-237578#images

And as for the pie, if I can get it till the 4th of July that will be sufficient! I already have an idea for a scene. Many thanks for your help!

Thank you! I've missed you too and I've gotten myself caught up on the lovely pictures I missed while I was away, Great Stuff! I love your new Star Trek, Dr. Who and Gotham figures! I've been considering getting some Gotham figures myself just for the diorama accessories, they look great! Keep up the wonderful work. I'll have the pie sent to you before then. You are most welcome. :)

I've taken a look at those extreme sets, they look amazing. I'd love to get a few of those they will be on my wish list for sure this year.

As for my background, It's not quite finished yet. I need to do some weathering to it to make it look a bit more used. The other things are various things I've gotten from recycled store materials. I'll take some Trek themed photos as well as various other photos with it very soon. :)

The Gotham figures and their accessories are awesome! I only started to watch the show a few weeks ago as it felt wrong to buy them just for that without having an idea about the characters, and now I am hooked. Combined with the trash cans, dumpsters etc. I got from the Wrestling figures, I already have many ideas how to use it all. Can’t wait to get properly started. I was at vacation in Birmingham recently and came home with more figures.

I just wish it was Alfred that came with the book case, one could use more than one book case for a library and I could customize him in many variants. I have become a Sean Pertwee fan now as well. No idea how I was able to miss him all those years.

So, in my mind it will be Alfred doing a proper 4th of July barbecue (I have a grill) with invited guests like Jim and Harvey ;) I guess I need to make him a kitchen apron then. I have an old fashioned stove that I once bought as I loved it but never before have used.

Well, as I said. Completely hooked. Mind blown. Head bursting from ideas.

That makes sense though I am guilty of doing that. I've purchased lots of figures without knowing much about them just for their accessories. ;)

The Gotham figures especially have wonderful accessories. I can only hope Diamond Select gives future Star Trek figures that treatment. I'd love to have some new Original Series figures that come with sections of the Bridge to make a complete set.

Your idea sounds lovely. I have a little grill myself. I used it in this photo I took 2 Halloweens ago.

I've been having lots of ideas too. I recently modified this mini metal scaffolding sculpture I got from Hobby Lobby. I added 2 girders on either side, put some Danger stripe tape on the bottom and put on a spotlight using some velcro. The power line is a necklace chain that was too small for me but I didn't want to just throw it away so I gave it a new purpose. Not sure what I'll use it for yet but it's perfect for 3 inch scale figures.

Here's a few test photo's of a potential new scene. Not a bad attempt at Season 2 and 3 Engineering. :)

Yeah, I have bought Primeval figures just for the computer stuff they came with, and Mulder and Scully just to get a gurney. And some Buffy and Angel figures for headswaps and customizing.
I'm not totally new to the Batman world, so it is nice to come back to the fandom. And the actors are really great.

Sadly it doesn't look good. At one of the recent "Ask DST" they said there are no plans for a whole bridge at the moment. Our hopes for that lie with the 1:12 Mezco line. They have already shown a Kirk with Captain's chair, and in some promotion pictures more parts of the bridge. Would be nice if they did it.

Here's a picture: http://pop-critica.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/one-12-star-trek.jpg

Your engine room is awesome, also with the lighting and all! And I also love that scaffolding thingy! Working in the building industry, I become more and more interested in that part of the miniature world.

I did that as well. That 3 screen computer is awesome. I must do more with it! I was contemplating collecting the new Batman Animated Series figures but since I'm already deep into collecting World Of Nintendo figures I thought trying to keep up with collecting two different series might be overwhelming and difficult.Plus I don't have the room. :P

Shame Diamond Select isn't doing anything about at the moment. I had hoped that new Khan with Reliant Chair would be a tease to something bigger. I'm hoping Mezco will do one. I was really excited by that picture when I first saw it some months back but sadly the figures are photoshopped onto a picture of the bridge and not actually standing in a miniature mockup of it.

Thanks It won't be the final design but it is coming along nicely. Those ring lights I use do a great job of simulating the lights they would use on Star Trek. And thanks, It would make a great prison or outpost guard tower for little GI Joes or even Star Wars figures. I need to get one out for some test pictures.

Just shopped? Really? *looks closer* Well, now that you say it... Sorry I fell for it. The Captain's chair is real though and I remember once writing a tweet with "Would be nice to have the whole bridge" and Mezco replied something about the lines "Yeah, would be nice" so you never know!

More rebellion from my dollies: a cross stitched protest sign!
Now THAT's certainly different! LOL

Happy Valentine's Day! Here's my entry for the Sixth Scale Universe February challenge "Romance". Not all romances are happy or mutual ones.
I always loved that scene where the Doctor is oblivious about Martha's pining but Jack picks up on it as he feels the same.
I felt that my usual speech bubbles would be too intrusive for this tender picture so I went with this style of text.

Thanks to clearance sales at GameStop & Wal-Mart, I was able to get the Hulkbuster build-a-figure from the Marvel Legends series. That thing is awesome, and heavy as hell!

Awhile back, I got War Machine, which came with the head. Paid full price, $20.

Wal-Mart had Blizzard (torso), Thundra (arm) & Valkyrie (arm) for $15 each.

And GameStop had Iron Man (leg), Dr. Strange (leg) & Vision (midsection) at $10 each.

Yeah, I was looking through my photo's and had the exact one they used. It's a near perfect shop though. I do hope they make a bridge though. That would be a dream come true.

And for continuing the Valentines day theme, I made this quick little pic.

I'm getting one, too. And I know someone who might make tees for dolls. They've made Black Lives Matter shirts for American Girls.

I finished making some new props for my scenes. These colorful things used to contain little bottles of tooth paste. I put some craft mesh inside and then went to town. Here's the before.

After some spray paint it looks much better.

Now here it is put to use.

I have the Flashdance version of Barbie where she's done up as Jennifer Beals from the movie in a sitting pose on some cardboard meant to look like boxes. Is that kind of thing worth anything? I've never opened it.

This one.

That looks so so awesome! I need to be on the lookout for stuff to convert. Anything with an interesting surface.

I just did a simple headswap today but I am very pleased how it came out. I wasn't sure whether it would work, as Angel and Jim Gordon are not exactly the same size. But I think the result looks fine, and Jim in wifebeater shirt has often been seen in the series so I couldn't resist. I didn't even paint the skin, even though Angel as a vampire has lighter skin and Jim's face is a bit darker. Then again, it is not unusual to have a sunburnt face with the rest less colored, right?

You can see the difference in the hand sizes also:

Dunk them in!

Off with their heads!

And the result:

I made this in the similar way, suddenly he got a bullet wound and a tattoo even:

And a little teaser for what I actually wanted to work on this weekend but now I have to wait for an item to arrive that I found just yesterday:

Thanks! the two platform looking items I used was used to hold small tubes of tooth paste. I'm not sure how easy it will be for you to get them. My mom works at a small grocery store so it's easier for her to get me these things.
Great work on your custom Jim Gordon figures. I haven't watched Gotham yet but they look spectacular. :)
