Uniforms

Which is funny because director Robert Wise said this about TOS: "I insisted on changing the costumes as soon as
I came in on the project. The originals look like pajamas or something." I do like some of the TMP but they look a LOT more like pajamas than the TOS shirt and pants!

I thought Wise was more bothered by the bright colors of the original uniforms. Although, I'm likely misremembering something I read years ago.

Why does every starfleet officer out of their normal time zone get accused of wearing pajamas? Shouldn't they recognize the uniforms from TV?

Am I the only one who thinks that the new uniforms resemble somehow the uniform of Garth of Izar from Whom Gods Destroy or with the uniform of Ferris from The Galileo Seven? Not exactly like them but maybe they were inspiring the Discovery uniform

There's a bit of a resemblance, but it's probably just coincidental.

I loved Kirk's admiral's uniform in TMP. I would rather'd seen that style for the entire fleet.

I think it's the lack of contrast in the TMP uniforms that made them so horrid.

Everyone has been so distracted by the new image of the Klingons that no one noticed that there appears to be an alien wearing a red Starfleet uniform in the background smack dab in the middle of the picture.

And with a feminine style so far as can seen.

And it looks to have a rank braid on the sleeve, as well. Cut almost like the female uniforms of TOS and the new movies, but with a curve upward on the sides.

It's too blurry for details, but it doesn't, at a distance, look that different from the Beyond dresses.
If so, I'm ok with that, I loved those designs and already remarked on what i saw as the similarity between them and the one we see in the released clip.

I thought it had a resemblance to the uniforms in Beyond as well, with maybe a tweak backward to the ones seen on the Kelvin and in "The Cage".

My friend on Facebook posted the below picture. He's currently working on the set for Star Trek: Discovery, although something tells me not for very much longer. It appears to be our first real look at Klingons from the show.

I'm honestly not sure how I feel. They seem a bit slender with outward appearances more resembling facehuggers than Klingons. It's an odd design, but maybe they'll look better in motion?

Of course the TMP uniforms look weird to our eye, just like our clothes would have looked weird to somebody who lived three or four centuries ago. I wish some sci-fi show set in the far future would deliberately use clothing designs that look totally stupid to us instead of stuff that looks good and stylish according to our contemporary sensibilities. That would be a realistic and forward-thinking approach to world-building. Aesthetics change quite radically over time.

Well I can see those new *Aliens **Klingons wearing that second outfit for sure!!! Hahaha! :o

sedurka(or whatever the spelling) is not an option though, considering Trek Earth is non religious(thats a privilege {or a burden depending in someone's worldview} of the aliens apparently).
