First look at Klingons in 'Star Trek: Discovery'?

If you look at the costumes arranged around the table, this is probably true - they are empty outfits with masks propped on them.

Those aren't empty costumes. There's food and drink on the table, and arms & legs are clearly visible. You can even see the feet of the actor on the right, closest to the camera.

Storytelling is not dependent on the aesthetics in the background.

…So say all those that insist that they absolutely must change all the "aesthetics in the background". As if that will automatically improve the storytelling.

(And change it they did. Into something bland and generic that looks it could very well be from 70's Doctor Who, Andromeda, Farscape, etc.)

A page from article by Leslie Thompson published in "Best of Trek #3" in 1981. Sound familiar?

"an affront to the fans".

Seriously, I think both sides are being a bit silly. It feel like some people are totally against every change and then there are some people who are all: "I hope they change more things just to piss off the "old school" fans."

I think it's okay to find a balance. I'm happy to see things re-imagined but it's not like they have to change everything just for the sake of changing it. If they want to do that, they might as well just create a new franchise.
But "updating" the look is just fine with me, especially if the updated look still hints at the roots. The latter is pure fan service of course but a little consistency doesn't hurt.

I've said it before but I thought JJ-Trek did a good job there with its modern retro feel. I don't even like the first two JJ movies but they look modern yet still feel very Trek-y.

He is/(now probably was) an Extra.

I'm sure once this photo hit Social Media:

STD Producer: "Um, can I speak to you?"

Him: "Sure."

STD Producer: "Do you recall the Non-Disclosure clause in the contract you signed?"

Him: "Ummm...."

STD Producer: "You're fired...breach of contract. Also, if you know what's good for you, you'll try and mitigate the situation if you actually want to work in this town again."

Him: "Got it."

End result: See picture above.
