I watched some of the Trekyards video on this trailer. One of them, the English guy, pointed to a ship created by John Eaves for an Australian fan club - the USS Mawson.

Eaves designs are okay, but I don't think they belong in the TOS era.
Then lets be thankful he's working in the Discovery era and not 1966.
We are indeed thankful because there wouldn't be a "Discovery era" nowadays if John Eaves was working in TOS in 1966 instead of Matt Jefferies.![]()

Nonsense.
I am sorry, I will at this point admit my ignorance. What exactly is the U.S.S. Shenzhou? I thought the primary ship's name was U.S.S. Discovery. Can anybody fill me in?I think that new design is the USS Shenzhou.
Starfleet ship commanded by Captain Georgiou, played by Michelle Yeoh. Not sure yet about the exact role of the ship in relation to the Discovery.I am sorry, I will at this point admit my ignorance. More likely art trumps the writers' and concept artists' adherence to any specified rules of subspace physics. It's like reimaging WW2 warbirds without any consideration of the mechanics of internal combustion engines, or the aerodynamics of airfoils. It's lousy world building.
