Let's remake a trek episode

Like the peeps did for this: http://www.starwarsuncut.com/newhope

They divided the movie into 15 second clips and then asked the fan base to remake a 15 second scene each...

Any one up for doing this for a trek episode? I'm keen to get my video editing skills a polish so up for the labour if there is uptake...

(To the lovely, wonderful, Q-esq Mods: Please don't bury me in Star Wars again, I was just using it as an example!)

I hate to be a wet blanket, but the fan film guidelines prohibit this. The content has to be original not reproductions, so remixing an episode to make a new one is not allowed. You can not use clips from any existing Star Trek production.

The only way that you maybe could do something like this would be an a prose format only.

The idea is to remake the episode by acting it out ourselves or by drawing, or animation. Please click the link of the star wars example to see what I mean.

I did click the link I watched a few minutes of it, and that's what made me think of the fan film guidelines. We as fans, are not allowed to act it out ourselves or by animation if the material has appeared on screen before.

The content in the fan production must be original, not reproductions, recreations or clips from any Star Trek production. If non-Star Trek third party content is used, all necessary permissions for any third party content should be obtained in writing. - See more at: http://www.startrek.com/fan-films#sthash.erMSnW1C.dpuf

Is this a rule of this forum?

If that's the case, how did these star trek people do it?

It's a guideline of Star Trek fan films imposed by CBS/Paramount who own it. I'm not trying to argue with you, simply to point out that because of the current climate doing something like this is not possible because the people who own the rights to Star Trek said so. However, they will allow fan fiction and audio dramas.

Thanks for pointing that out. If this project gets going, it will be something to consider.
