That's Craig Thompson at Golden West College in 1972. The 11-footer was loaned to the school for an exhibit. It was the last time the original nacelle domes were ever seen.

Those are all terrific, but the pictures on the street really take me back to being a kid. The old ATT/Bell logo, big 2-door cars, yellow Corvair, engineer boots...

The one looks like Harry Mudd shrunk the Enterprise.

The "1966 vs 2016" comparison image highlights the radial slices that Ed Miarecki cut into the primary hull during his 1991 restoration. Alteration is more like it. The concentric grooves are original, but those radial grooves were never there on the show. At most, they might have been very light pencil lines that were practically invisible.

This. The Miarecki "restoration" is gone; with respect, let's enjoy the amazing work of the NASM team going forward. Many may point to Beyond or Discovery, but this loving restoration was all I really wanted for the 50th anniversary.
