CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Wow, I seem to have really upset your delicate feelings.
My dislike of almost all fan films does not mean I am blindly a complete fan of Peters and the whole Axanar project.
There is this perception that because I loved Prelude I therefore must be a complete pro Axanar fan who finds no fault with that show. For the record I have zero affiliation with anything to do with Axanar or any trek fan production film
The reality is I now expect any final short film to come out from Axanar to be a complete let down..which after the optimism Prelude gave me, that is now a bad thing.
Speaking as just a fan, my original thought was that the Axanar movie would be a good thing and my expectations were high, the actions of peters is/was a complete separate issue, as is the whole cbs court thing.

Like I have already stated which you seem too hurt to grasp, I have no issue with anyone making anything, and if fans films make those who create them happy, that is wonderful for them, but I have zero interest in them as I have found them all to be a complete waste of my time and to be cringeworthy bad.
Unlike you I am not one who needs praise or acceptance , you can list all my faults as you wish, you can put me on ignore for hurting your feelings, you can do whatever you like but it wont change the reality that fans films for the most part are rubbish to me, and that seems to be the bone of contention that is hurting you.

It isn't your opinion that is upsetting some people, it is the way you're presenting it.

Really ?
So if i said I found fan made films to be brutally bad, instead of saying I thought they were shit, would that have made things more pleasant ?
The reality is the people who make fan stuff for the most part love praise but dont like criticism, and you cannot accept one without the other and that applies to most things in life.

But these people getting upset at someone on the internet cos someone thinks fan films are shit shows how easily offended some people really are.

Think of all the pie we could share!

There will be pie.

And - Semantic Shenanigans is in my sig line now.

Please feel free to just say hai (hai!) 'cause I am happy to talk to most people. Yes, even to #TeamCake ;)

You could have said something like "In my opinion, a lot of fan films I've watched are not that good"

His opinion can be formulated as he wants it to be. It's his opinion. He doesn't have to mince words.
But he should NOT compare Prelude to Axanar to other fan films. That's the route Alec Peters wanted to take with words when he tried to defend his multi-million dollar business. That's the problem I wanted to point out for @gazomg . Prelude was and Axanar itself would have been no fan film.

not now its not, although initially I think it was suppose to be a film made by the fans financially by people who themselves were fans, but like so many things in life when large amounts of money got involved, things go wrong and principles etc went out the window so what we have left now is nothing like what was originally thought.

I think even those most loyal to the axanar thing are probably fed up with the whole thing now

And with this settlement my work here is done. Just one more duty to perform.

Did someone say, "Cash"?

You know, If you took all your Star Trek characters and printed them on your Dart flights, you might begin having a less abrasive attitude around the fan film community.
Khaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

So what time will Donald Trump be addressing the nation to announce this momentous event and his part in its resolution? 'I am satisfied that when this (not) fan film is made it'll be the best (not) fan film ever made, it'll be yuge and perform bigly'.:guffaw:

does anyone think that Peters is actually *happy* about this?

Sure. He'll always be famous for the Awesome Film That Was Never Made™. It's really hard to knock all the free drinks and panel appearances he'll get out of that.

Depending on the terms of the settlement, he might even get to keep the studio, allowing him to work on whatever he wants in the future. I don't think that's that great of a victory, but it seems to have been one of Alec's goals from the outset.

Remember that the guidelines don't allow present or former CBS/P employees to participate. That takes RMB right out as director.

That is sad.

The truncated fan film running time from the Guidelines--that's unfair to fans.
If he is lucky enough to get any more--he might do the 2 hr film--then find a way to edit it down--and then release to the free web on his deathbed.
