I've had a crush on Katheryn Winnick since the first episode. <swoons> I loved shield maidens even before the show aired, but she made me love them even more for their badassery.
That's one way to de-feet her.
I'm surprised how quickly things are moving (which is probably for the better). I didn't expect the Great Heathen Army to begin assembling so soon as well as Björn's fleet returning to Kattegat just as quickly. At this rate, the finale will probably be the entirety of the Army landing on English shores. I wonder how closely the show will follow the long invasion considering it lasted for more than a decade.
I figured Floki would develop some kind of cavalry-related means for Ivar to participate in the invasion, although I thought it would be something closer to what Tyrion developed for Bran in Game of Thrones. I suppose a chariot is more appropriate for Ivar's sensibilities, especially considering a number of their gods use chariots (Thor, Freya, Frey, Day, Night).
While I know there's plenty of recorded history regarding Rollo (as referenced by Floki's fear of such), I do wonder what purpose character may serve for the show at this point. He seems to completely part of Frankia at this point and Vikings of Kattegat don't want to have anything more to do with him.
With Aslaug gone, the only thing I'm not liking abut the show at this point is the endless plotting by King Harald and his brother Halfdan. There's enough conflict going on with all the characters and the impending invasion of England that this plot point feels excessive and distracting. Doesn't help any that they're by far the most sadistic Vikings on the show (perhaps to counter what the "good guys" do) and I've grown tired of their presence.

It wouldn't surprise me if Bjorn was the son of Ragnar to kill Largetha and take over as a way to avenge Ragnar for the brothers, for himself in her leaving his father, prevent a family implosion by their doing it, and either get a step ahead of Harald or in agreement from something during the trip with Harald to keep him from destroying Kattegat. Kattegat, I keep thinking the place is in Denmark but the show seems to insist it's in Norway. Which is funny since everyone seems to keep taking a land route to get to Hedeby which ought to be in Denmark, too.
Are we watching the same show? Lagertha's his mom! Why would he kill his own mom to avenge his brothers' mom?

I was thinking of 'unlikely, won't see it coming' plot twists. Bjorn's got a lot angrier than he has been in the last episode. He wants to get out from the shadow of his parents and that twist with Astrid made me wonder if Hirst would pull something like that out of left field.

Damn, I'm disappointed we didn't get to see the battle itself after so much slow (and slightly tedious) build up. Blood-eagling Aelle almost makes up for it, even though we've seen it before (but I forget who and why). Incidentally, I just looked up the history of the practice and the real life Aelle was in fact killed this way, although it was Ivar who carved his back and not Bjorn.
Yeah, I'm really done with Harald at this point but it doesn't look like he's going anywhere anytime soon unfortunately.
No kidding. Even though we didn't get a full view of it, the sheer brutality of it is raw and real.
I really must watch this. The wife's cousin works on it and he always seems to have a lot of fun on it.
