Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Heh...I think they were done on an Amiga with Video Toaster. At least the first ones were. Extremely crude and super-low poly. Modern-day Sketchup renderings look better now than those things did then. There are fan-made meshes in newer rendering engines that would probably make for better model masters, TBO. I suspect there would have to be a clear market to make it worth their while to make them. Not sure if that's the case. Don't get me wrong - I LOVED B5, but the ship designs were never the high-water mark of that show's production, IMO.

So am I right in guessing or assuming that with the reveal of the "Executive Shuttle" in Shuttle Pack 2 that it is a near certainty that we will be getting a Genolan? I mean the Genolan was just a redress of that model with nacelles glued on.

I assume you mean the Jenolan. That was my fear too after reading about the executive shuttle, but from what I've read, we will be getting a Jenolan as a regular series issue, which makes me very happy.

Received the 1717 Yorktown the other day (nice addition to the collection, even if it is a minor repaint) and Mudd's ship and Insurrection Scout Ship is on its way. Still waiting on the Jellyfish special, though. Kind-of surprised that it hasn't arrived yet. Any other subscribers received theirs yet (in the US)?

Also, anyone know when the "Designing Starships Vol.1" gets released? I pre-ordered that with the Yorktown from the online store but haven't heard/seen anything about it.

The surface details (grid lines, escape pods) seem a little over-pronounced to me, but other than that, it does look beautiful. SO glad they're bringing these old and obscure Wolf 359 ships back to life in the 21st century.

Picked up my first model/issue in six week yesterday, with #87 The Aeon. Quite a simple design really but very sleek and really cool looking; I like it a lot.
Next up is another Vuclan ship I couldn't care less about, but after that is the Enteprise-J which is gonna be frickin awesome!!

Indeed, me too. And it's only the beginning - there are several other Wolf 359 ships that they're going to make to fill out most of the Kyushu's contemporaries, and maybe some of the obscure DS9 ships. Such a great time to be a fan right now. Haven't felt that way since the 90's, really...

I know. One of the main reasons I've subscribed, is to support the line in the hope we would get these one off Starfleet ships. I'm ecstatic we're finally getting them. Of course, I'm impatient and want them all now....
