Which is an half-assed opinion, formed because you can't bear the truth. The character of Seven was intelligent, well written, well acted, multi-dimensional and gave the writers a lot to work with... much more than a pixie girl-child with absolutely no personality or charisma. Speaking in hushed tones and smiling isn't acting. The character was a dead end. You keep desperately clinging to Jeri Ryan's attractiveness as a means to keep your stupid argument afloat and if the character just swung her boobs around and contributed little else each episode, you might have a point. Instead, she brought something to every episode, and was 10 times the character as Kes ever was, and the fact you think Kes was a character worthy of this stupid debate makes my head spin. The audience didn't like her, she was boring, the writers didn't like her, so OUT SHE WENT. She was replaced by a character many times more interesting and an actress many times better, to keep the show going. This is fact. Get over it and act like an adult.
Oh, are we getting a bit hysterical today?Seriously though it fucks me off that people hate on 7 of 9 because of her boobs. STOP fucking boob shaming 7 of 9 because her boobs are big, just fucking STOP.
Boobs come in a lot of sizes. I am sure you wouldn't boob shame a big boobed woman who just let them sag on out without perking them up with a bra, which is what 7 does and what 95% of women in her age group will do. But you get someone who doesn't care and just lets 'em hang out and they don't get boob shamed, they get slob shamed or if the are old enough age shamed.
KEEP CUP SIZE OUT OF YOUR FREAKING HATES ON 7 OF 9.
Because you know this is an actual size, a FEMALE SHAPE. You condemn via the stereotyped male eye and meanwhile women are just .. wtf man these are my boobs do I have to HIDE them so I don't get trashed for them?
This is bullshit.
I almost liked this but then you said you liked Dr. Crusher...Well, unfortunately your head will be spinning like a wheel because I do think that Kes is definitely a character worthy of this debate.
The personal insults you throw at me will only act as fuel to the fire.
Not to mention that you are wrong on several occasions: The audience didn't dislike Kes. There were other characters who were more disliked and dislike wasn't the reason why she was dumped. Kes was never boring and the writers, well they had no problems to come up with good stories about her until they were ordrerd by Berman, Braga and Taylor to lose the abilities to write about her.
And to add a final, Out of topic, speed-of-light spin to the empty roulette wheel: I like Dr. Crusher too!![]()
I do like this though and agree with most of your points. My opinion on Seven is slightly modified in that she was a well written character, performed by a great actress, but who's character I never personally cared for and felt was marketed poorly.Oh, are we getting a bit hysterical today?
No reason for that actually since my comments aren't directed at women in particular and definitely not at you.
I have nothing against women with big boobs. As a matter of fact, I do like Deanna Troi!
I don't hate Seven Of Nine either and I do think that Jeri Ryan is a great actress.
However, I do question Berman's, Braga's and Taylor's reasons for bringing in Seven after three seasons and it was definitely wrong to dump one of the main characters because of that.

Why are people like this. What is the point.
OH I will fuck over your beloved character by my powers of MISS SPELL. She's an evel bitch.

I also think that Kes could have been developed more, and am sad by that loss of story potential.
Indeed! Dee's got a lot going for her, except that ... well ... she is kinda short.I have nothing against women with big boobs. As a matter of fact, I do like Deanna Troi!![]()
I resemble that remark.Indeed! Dee's got a lot going for her, except that ... well ... she is kinda short.
No hard feelings. Just looking out for us shorties.... haha! Aww ... well, bless your heart, then! Yeah, I'm into the Yar's ... the Ro's ... you know? All statuesque and shit like that.
Oh, are we getting a bit hysterical today?![]()
You liked Kes, and hated Seven for replacing her. It's what I've been wanting you to admit all along. Now, form an opinion with your emotions out of the equation. Seven was an attractive, compelling, interesting, well written and well acted character, and the conflict was just what the show needed. She could play both a protagonist and an antagonist, which allowed far more complex crew interaction and far more compelling story lines. She could even get into out-of-character situations and get a laugh, or play the dry straight man and get the laugh. Kes was never going to get anywhere near there no matter how much they put into the character. Only in wishful thinking, and you know it.
The point is that the correct spelling of the names has been repeated over and over in this forum, yet she chose to ignore what was right in front of her, and spell the names her own way.
Most people ignore the facts that are right in front of them, and form their opinions based on how they dream things should be.
Do you see the simile?
Kes being the key word. What we saw with Lien in say, Warlord, that woman had volume and potential we would only get a glimpse of. Kes had a shaky foundation. And time is money. They didn't want to explore on their dime. Had she been as interesting as her race, I think they would have. I'm invested in Seven, so I'm glad they did it but I can't help but feel that was the easier avenue to write for.Seven was an attractive, compelling, interesting, well written and well acted character, and the conflict was just what the show needed. Sorry I never said that. I was talking about that terrible doctor, O'Brien and Jadzia. They were boring characters who were hard to write for, and their plot lines were used as mostly filler episodes and scenes to break things up thereafter.
I spent a little time plotting character focusand development for Voyager, pre-season 4 and post-season 4. After season 4, the Chakotay, Paris, Tuvok and Kim roles were reduced. Kim's fairly significantly. Janeway stayed about the same. B'Elanna was a toss up. I think her focus increased but It might have been the same. The doctor's role increased significantly. Seven had nearly as much development and focus as the doctor. Now, this isn't to say that the characters whose roles that were diminished were written out and disappeared. They had their focus episodes and focus scenes, just not as much as pre-season 4.
It's possible to measure screen time and character development, and it's possible to measure character focus, and it's possible to tell when a character is given dialogue or scenes that can really be spoken or performed by other more important characters.
The problem starts when people can't get over it, and think their favorite supporting character should have been the stars of the show. I suppose the producers could have just let the ratings slide until the shows were cancelled. Yes, on second thought they should have let "Kes" and "Harry Kim" carry Voyager. 5 more years of that surely would have been the right choice.
No. Just tired of your "I'm not really trashing Ryan for having boobs, it is all the B's fault that I was forced to look at her boobs instead of my virgin faerie princess".
You always do the same thing, make comments about her assets being a cheap ploy and then say you have nothing against her. It's low, it's crass, it's body shaming you won't own.
