1. I never said LGBT people shouldn't get married and Rosa Parks has nothing to with this discussion.
2. It's a flawed law. That I'll admit, but I really can't think of a solution and neither can you, besides getting rid of the law.
3. I consider men walking in on women in the bathroom to be a problem.
4. How many times does it take for it to be a problem? To me, if it happens once, it's an issue.
5. Sure you can, but every woman I know does not want a man in there with them.
1. No, you just want to view us with suspect as criminals. Not all trans women can pass. But they are still women. Your law would get them punished for how they look. Because you really can't pass a law designed to stop someone for lying about how they claim to feel. A trans woman could insist over and over that they're trans and depending on who is listening to them, they might not believe it. So innocent people would be punished, that's what you're defending.

2. Yes it is. It amazes me that you keep defending it. The solution is arresting people for assault when they commit assault. Not harassing trans women because some idiots think they are men.

3. Are you afraid they'll see you at the Mirror? Every restroom I've been to has stalls. You can't see into them. If someone tries to climb into one of those, then yeah that's a problem. But I don't think you need to create a new law to stop that.

4. We have roughly 5 reports and a lot more than 5 people going to the restroom in public across the country. I'm pretty sure this is a fraction of a fraction of 1%. It's not an epidemic, it's a panic over nothing.

5. Once again, I don't think this is happening enough to be a thing. Statistically more people are in love with goats.

1. I never said any transgender woman is a criminal. The people that I refer to are the people who abuse the law.
2. I agree with that.
3. I'm just saying what both men and women that I know have said about having the opposite sex with them in the restroom. Also, insulting me based on how you think I look adds nothing to this discussion.
4. I'm sure there's more than 5 of these incidents. As I've said, these people may do nothing wrong. Despite this, all the women that I know do not want men in the restroom with them.
5. You're entitled to your opinion.

To the people who voted for Trump. If all the illegal immigrants are deported. Let us know how you get on finding that nanny, maid and the carer who will wipe your butt when you get old. We await your reports. Because we all know your fellow Americans are just desperate to take their place.

Thousands of people have nanny's, maids and caregivers that are not here illegally and are more then qualified to do the jobs. Caregivers for the elderly have to have licenses and go through nursing programs. Trump wants to deport criminals that *should not even be in this country.* Try again.

To be honest in this day and age, I am feeling more and more I don't want to share nothing with white folks. Its making me racially paranoid of all of them.

Stereotype and categorize much? How demonized would I be if I said a similar comment about black people? I would be called closeminded and racist. People need to stop with the judgemental, hype filled rhetoric and double standards. Stop buying the propaganda. They WANT to divide people.

Public toilets for the physically disabled are not designated by gender and no one raises a fuss about that.

In my part of NY its part of the health code that public bathrooms are handicap accessible for both genders as part of the standard bathroom. I have never seen a bathroom just for the physically disabled; Just large accessible stalls with ramps and handrails in both gendered bathrooms.

Ok to the former as for the latter Trump wants to do something the present Presidency is already doing...nice one Trump, very original!

1. I'm pointing out how real people are going to be hurt to stop an imaginary issue. You can stick your fingers in your ears and ignore it, but these are going to be the people most affected by these laws. I'd argue that the laws are purely meant to target them.

2. Then why are you supporting it?

3. I wasn't insulting you. Are restrooms set up differently where you live? You go in, there are sinks at the mirror, then stalls with doors on them. I can't see through the doors, I assume most people can't either. So if someone is going to see you, it's going to be in front of the sink.

4. Apparently you only have to worry about 5 out of half the population.

5. Yeah, so are you.

I'm done. I can't keep arguing with brick walls.

1.You just elected a man who surrounds himself with folks and states rhetoric steeped in racist propaganda. For me the best racial defence is a racial offense. The USA has officially stated that brown people don't matter, of course we already knew this was fact since the founding of the nation. The division is here and will live in the White House.

2. My world is not NY, facilities are separate

Then you need to set up a totalitarian state where people are executed for breaking any law.

@indycar, maybe you should step back and consider that your entire approach to this discussion has been riddled with red herrings.

States are passing laws specifically to target trans people, to single them out for legalized oppression. You view doing the opposite--passing laws to protect trans people--as somehow opening the door to collateral abuse of women and children, despite the fact that this is already extremely rare (in the context described, that is) and there is no need for a special law to criminalize it, because it's already illegal.

Your arguments are maddening because they're riddled with fallacies, and you just keep going in circles with them. If all you want to do is restate your priors, you can stare into a mirror and do that.

Hi. I'm a metaphor. Have we met?

2. It's a flawed law. That I'll admit, but I really can't think of a solution and neither can you, besides getting rid of the law.
There's your answer! The law doesn't fix a damned thing. It doesn't even stop the supposed problem it's suppose to stop and it's only created a half-dozen others.

3. I consider men walking in on women in the bathroom to be a problem.
Yes. But not all problems require a law written to stop it, especially laws that won't stop it in the first place.

4. How many times does it take for it to be a problem? To me, if it happens once, it's an issue.
Not one that warrants a special session of the legislature costing a million dollars and then costs the state many more millions in lost business.

And do you honestly thing this law is going to stop an honest-to-god pervert from walking in a bathroom? No. It's like all those laws we have that stops people from taking children, yet it still happens.

5. Sure you can, but every woman I know does not want a man in there with them.
I'm talking about your home..

I think I do.
You also think you support LGBT rights.

You know this law makes Caitlin Jenner, boobs and all use the mens rom and Chaz Bono, who has a penis, use the women's?

If certain folks understood, we wouldn't have these discussions nor these laws.
And that means???

YES.

It forces people to use the restroom of the gender to which they are (generally speaking) sexually attracted to.

Preoperative transgendered male? Sexually attracted to other males? You're in the men's room!
Post operative transgendered male? Have men's bits? Tough shit! You're in the ladies room!

Good thing this law keeps people in the correct room to fart in. Wouldn't want things to get awkward because someone's childish and cartoonish image of a bearded lady wants to diddle kids outside a Spencers Gifts.

I can only imagine that the people who support these laws know exactly what they'll do and want it or they're willfully ignorant of the harm it causes. It's like passing a law to keep black men away from white women at all times because some black guy raped a white woman once. You can pretend it's merely meant to protect women from that one guy, but that's not who it is going to affect.

The feeling's mutual.
I'm such an idiot, I thought I was equal to you. But I guess I'm a subhuman who doesn't deserve rights who will probably get assaulted and killed. But at least you won't have to worry about a man going into your restroom, because that law will totally protect you. Sexual predators are terrified of laws, it repeals them like a forcefield.

This. I posted an article earlier about the earliest drug laws here in the States and how they justified it by using the enraged negro to frighten people.

North Carolina's HB2 (and other like it) is a shitty bill. It does nothing to address actual sexual assault and other crimes against women. It is just a misdirection.

Sessions was offered the job of attorney general by Trump. Sessions was deemed too racist to be a judge in 1986. This administration is shaping to be anti-racist, anti-LGBTQ, anti-Muslim.

Seriously, Trump is just picking the worst possible people for the job to fuck with everyone. Bannon, Sessions, Gingrich, Giuliani -- hell, he's even meeting with Kissinger!

This ain't gonna end well for someone. My hope is it will be him, but my fear is it will be all of us.

It's so clearly meant to be a discrimination bill that I find it extremely upsetting that people try to defend it as something legitimate.

You're my equal, and so are the women who don't like men coming into the bathroom with them. Their rights are just as important as your's. Also, I have no issue with men coming a restroom with me, considering I am a male. As for laws giving a force field, that won't happen. However, it prevents men that follow women into restrooms from having a defense in the law.
