America doesn't indemnify it's elected officials like some countries in Europe do. The presidency doesn't come with an absolute get out of jail free card. Official immunity only extends to acts performed within the context of the office or position. Those acts are, legally, those of the government. If you think a policy harmed you, you sue the entire government. Doesn't matter if Bush's war killed your spouse or a TSA agent made you miss a flight.

However, that's not the case here. The action was not committed by President Trump, but before he held office. He's still liable for his actions as a private citizen.

He may or may not qualify for government counsel (lawyers employed by the White House and paid for by taxpayers) simply by assuming office. I dont know that answer. However, at this stage of the case, it's probably too late to bring in a whole new team anyway (which might not be better than what Trump keeps on retainer).

I have to, surprisingly, side with the defendant here. He has a lot of shit to get in order as is, and it may be in the public interest to get that sorted out before continuing the case.

And Steve Bannon who ran Brietbart is going to be one of his chief advisers.

You can't make shit like this up. Fox News is having orgasms over this

It gets worse. Steve Bannon is a strong proponent of the ultra right wing movements in Europe. The ultra right wing (and alt-right) movements look like they are working together in forging a new world order. The Middle East had its revolutions and now the West is having its revolutions. While the revolutions in the Middle East were for a more free society, our revolutions are for a closed society.

The Democrats had complete control of both houses for 72 days. And, because the Democrats did not have a filibuster proof Senate, the Republicans had effective control of the Senate for most of Obama's term. This is why it is wrong I believe to say that Obama did not do anything to help the working classes - most of his agenda died in the Congress due to Republican obstruction. The level of obstruction was exceptional, as there had never been this level of obstruction earlier.

Indeed........ Obstruction and obfuscation and people who support the Republicans would have seen no problem with that. I think the next 4 years will be quite a bumpy ride.

Did he recently meet with Nigel Farage? That's ominous

Steve Bannon's "newspaper" Breibart has offices in London. He has plans of expanding Breitbart "in France and Germany with new bureaus to cultivate and promote the populist-nationalist lines there."

Bannon invited Farage to New York, so he could meet Trump.

Not until he is out of office. This is to prevent abuse of the legal system to harass Presidents for the purpose of "withdrawing them from their Constitutional duties."

This is fairly informative and contains the following quote from a letter from Thomas Jefferson to a prosecutor at the Aaron Burr trial. The quote contains a really nice foundation in the separation of powers.
http://digitalcommons.law.yale.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1887&context=fss_papers

Thomas Jefferson said:
The leading principle of our Constitution is the independence of the Legislature, executive and judiciary of each other, and none are more jealous of this than the judiciary. But would the executive be independent of the judiciary, if he were subject to the commands of the latter, [and] to imprisonment for disobedience; if the several courts could bandy him from pillar to post, keep him constantly trudging from north to south [and] east to west, and withdraw him entirely from his constitutional duties? The intention of the Constitution, that each branch should be independent of the others, is further manifested by the means it has furnished to each, to protect itself from enterprises of force attempted on them by the others, and to none has it given more effectual or diversified means than to the executive.

The only recourse is Impeachment and Senate trial.

Just remember before you go after Trump that any path you beat for the purpose of his demise leaves the same path available later to eliminate those of whom you approve.

While we are discussing what this is doing here in America, it is having an effect on European politics. This win is being heralded by right wing parties throughout Europe. There is talk of the end of the European Union if Le Pen wins in February.

Members of the European Parliament consider it a foregone conclusion that Trump's election will put wind in the sails of populists in Europe who are already gaining ground. "Of course misogynists and xenophobes all across Europe feel emboldened by an election victor who plays the same tune as they do," says Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, a foreign policy expert in the European Parliament with the business-friendly Free Democrats. And Donald Tusk, the president of the powerful European Council, which represents the interests of the EU leaders, even believes that the European political order could be in danger." The events of recent months and days should be seen by all those who believe in liberal democracy as a warning signal," he says.

The above is from an article at Der Spiegel. Here is the article:

http://www.spiegel.de/international...rouble-for-berlin-and-brussels-a-1120905.html

There was an emergency meeting of foreign trade ministers today to discuss what a Trump presidency means for the European Union.

In the Middle East, "hardcore jihadist and Salafist sources" celebrated Trump's win. They see the win as the beginning of America's ruination and have promised to use his words in their propanganda.

“Trump’s victory is a hard slap to those promoting the efficiency of democratic systems,” Hamza al-Karibi, a spokesperson for the al-Qaeda affiliated Syrian jihadist group Jabhat Fatah al-Sham wrote to his Twitter followers. “Starting today, we won’t need media releases clarifying the West’s machinations. All we need to do is retweet what Trump says,” he added.

For the non-terrorist groups, they are celebrating this win for they see this as a change in policy. Egypt for instance is ecstatic, as they hope the US will help them in their fight against the Muslim Brotherhood. Their leader contacted Trump this week.

This event has generated waves whose effect we have yet to witness in their full.

There is some truth in the spread of immigration due to the exodus from ISIS and the like causing much of this upset. They win. The irony is that Middle East intervention by outside powers was the alleged cause of the vacuum ISIS filled.

It is true, as well, that the austerity measures implemented in the last several years have led to this. Where there was austerity, there has arosen this movement.

The fascists have taken over the USA . Its official.

I sincerely hope that you “Don’t get it”. That the Democratic Party continues its slide to the left and fully into the “Hate America” group that are now rioting in the streets. That you and the Elite Media continue to brand ordinary Americans that voted for Trump as Racists, Homophobes, Islamaphobes, Fascists, etc. At least have the class that your candidate displayed in losing. But no, better yet continue your leftward slide into oblivion. The drubbing you took in 2010, 2014, and 2016 will seem like good times when 2018 rolls around and your representatives who are somewhat moderate have to run for re-election in Red states get creamed. The destruction of the Democratic Party brought on by the arrogant far left policies of Obama will be complete. All that will be left is the looney left fringe now taking over the party.

“So, something astonishing has happened,” Don Advo, from the white-supremacist friendly website Daily Stormer, said during David Duke’s radio show. “We appear to have taken over the Republican Party.”

Own your mess...views, even the KKK accept they run things now. You are on the same side as fascists and even they are proud of that. If you think Obama is far left then your education system has a lot to answer for. Did you graduate with an ignorance certificate?
Since you are so proud of your looney, far right wing, fascist views then claim the label. WEAR IT WITH PRIDE! Your great grand parents who fought Hitler & Mussolini (ever heard of em?) might be real proud of ya..

And just in case they have been too subtle before ...

Yes. Germany. The country where populist-nationalism has actually been tried before.

Fun fact: Hitler and the NSDAP actually didn't gain the majority in democratic elections, they were helped to power because the conservatives made a deal with them and joined in the parlamentary election of Hitler as chancellor.

Well, two things are for sure now. In nominating and electing Donald Trump, who ran on the platform that he did, Republicans can no longer style themselves as the party of family values, moral superiority, whatever. That is over.

And anyone can become president now. Anyone. It no longer matters what they say and do. If the voters want "change" they have proved that they don't care about someone's character.
