I think a lot of the unfair exaggerations about Trump in the media during the election garnered him some support. So, you don't think there is a single person that is less qualified for the presidency than Trump?
Stephen Colbert (the fictional character, not the actual man) ran in South Carolina a few years ago for President. He was less qualified, but that was a bit for his show.

I would have voted for him purely on his hard stance on bears though. No one else is willing to stop those godless monsters with no souls.

"Insightful" comments on football video entitled "high school football fights?" :wtf:
I meant on other of my videos. Most non-racist comments on High School Football Fights are something like "I think I see me" or "That's my school".

I'm not worried about words. I'm worried about the actual laws they want to pass and already have in some states. If I were open I could be fired in my state and have no legal defense. The GOP wants to get rid of the laws in any state that does make that illegal. I'm worried about being assaulted by bigots, something that happens all the time and in my town I really doubt the police would care.

I undertand. I do. In my job, in my state, the mere fact that I'm liberal threatens my security. God forbid they learn that I'm an atheist. There are only two people on this board who know who I am, where I live and what I do. But this is not about me. My situation is not the same as yours, but I also live in fear. I am not, however, consumed by it. I'm aware of it. I deal.

So are you. So can you. To paraphrase Winston Churchill, you have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something.

My god, how personal and liberating and brave is what you have done with your life?

It's safe to say that most of us on here are worried about what will happen to various minority groups under Donald Trump. Two groups of particular interest are Muslims and Hispanics, especially Mexicans.

Earlier, the topic of abortion was brought up. When it was, I said was against it in some circumstances. After I said this, some users made jokes about my view, some compared this to supporting slavery/owning people, some said that I was trying to seem superior and some said that I was against women having sex.

After doing some research, I found that Muslims do support it in some cases, such as health to the mother, but they rarely allow it after 120 days. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/islam/islamethics/abortion_1.shtml). I also found that Roman Catholics (which represents 88% of Mexico, http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/mexico/religion.htm) think that abortion is a "grave evil". (http://www.catholic.com/tracts/abortion). It also does not go into details of special circumstances.

It seems that I do share a view on this subject with both Muslims and the majority of Mexicans, especially the former.

And some said they were deep concerns worthy of thoughtful conversation. Don't neglect the ones that are willing to play ball.

Don't get me wrong, most of the people with opposing views on this subject were able to defend their views and give reasons as to why. I can tell you that I was not thinking of you when I wrote this, you seem to be a respectful person. This was directed at only a few people who had to bring insults because I disagreed with them.

Unemployment is only down because they stopped counting half the people who don't have jobs.

This is a load of horse plop. The definitions of unemployment (plural, there are six different ways it's measured) haven't changed in decades. Even the broadest measure (U-6) is lower than what the U-3 (the headline measure) was 8 years ago.

And since you're not familiar, the U-6 is *always* higher than the U-3. Usually by double.

I'm not a Trump supporter, did not vote for the man. I just see a lot of hateful insults and labelling under the guise of preaching peace coming from mostly one angle. Really does not seem that are being applied to a percentage of his voters but lumping them all into one bucket and making assumptions about their motives.

It's been VERY one sided. Also the so-called "peaceful" protests are getting very violent.

Stay classy dems.

This is still our country. Remember, we have lost only one presidential popular vote since George the First in 1988. That's 28 years.
Sorry, but you lost it in 2004 too. And either way it doesn't matter.
His point was not about questioning the legality of the Electoral College or the outcome of the election, he's simply saying that a majority of eligible voters who have voted in the last six out of seven US Presidential elections (1992, 1996, 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2016) have voted Democrat, with 2004 being the only time the Republicans won a majority, and that was by a miniscule margin with an incumbent presidential advantage.

Here's something that intrigues me.

One of our local TV networks claims to have an exclusive interview with Trump on Monday night our time. How would they have secured this interview if no one knew he'd be President?

Items 12 and 43.
Ok, sans the misleading headliney bullet pointy parts:

12. “We support the public display of the Ten Commandments as a reflection of our history and our country’s Judeo-Christian heritage and further affirm the rights of religious students to engage in voluntary prayer at public school events and to have equal access to school facilities.”
43. “A good understanding of the Bible being indispensable for the development of an educated citizenry, we encourage state legislatures to offer the Bible in a literature curriculum as an elective in America’s high schools.”

Note the words "voluntary" and "elective," and the phrase "equal access." Where does it say "theocracy" or "national religion"?

Maybe read the entire platform. I know it's long. https://prod-static-ngop-pbl.s3.amazonaws.com/media/documents/DRAFT_12_FINAL[1]-ben_1468872234.pdf

This stuff is all position, telling the public what the party stands for. It's not legislation. But everyone here knows that. Any new law still has to go through the process.

Nasty evil Republicans aren't coming to get anybody. But if they do, you can all come hide in my basement.
