CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Explainers
If you want to follow the timeline of the lawsuit as it unfolds, here are some articles on AxaMonitor you may find of use; they are constantly updated with new developments:

I don't expect a settlement is in the cards. I don't believe that Alec can accept a settlement unless he's guaranteed to be able to make Axanar lest he suffer the wrath of his donors, the attorney general, and perhaps even the Feds.

I honestly wonder if all three really would do anything.
I suspect the donors, while upset, might walk away thinking fighting for their donation won't be worth it. How much would you have to donate before getting all legal would be worth it? 1,000 dollars? 2? 10?
And for some reason, I just doubt the AG of California or the Feds really care. Maybe. But... meh.

Just wanted to pop in here and say good-bye to you fine folks. After some percolating consideration the last couple days, and some other more recent stumbling, I've decided its time to log out for the last time.

I'm very glad to know that I was able to still be here and see the hand of justice come down on Alec Peters for his misdeeds. Unfortunately my temper got the better of me tonight and I realized that in this mindset I am not fit to be posting here any longer. I owe a lot of you a great deal of gratitude for the laughs, the explanation, and the reinforcement of the blatantly obvious truth that Alec Peters went way over the line here, and after spending so long beating this drum (seemingly) on my own, it's good to know that there are those of you carrying on to make sure the truth about this entire mess will not just disappear into the internet ether.

A lot of my decision has to do with outside issues I'm otherwise dealing with in my life and does not reflect anything other than my need to focus my attention on those issues. I have no doubt that justice will come to the appropriate parties in this case, and I'm grateful for the tone this thread has managed to maintain these last 10 months.

Be kind. Be well. Be friends.

Thank you.

I haven't been here long but I latched on quite quickly that Karzaks posts were always one of those who were worth paying attention to. I hope he makes a return.

I'd like to add my regret to seeing people who have added so much to the ongoing conversation step away. But ultimately real life takes priority over this little drama and I hope you all rejoin us when you can and know that your contributions are going to be missed by this mostly-lurker.

It does. It's like a Law & Order special written by the same folks that do Days of Our Lives.

The madness in here is certainly a nice distraction from the madness out there. I'm a little bummed to see that effecting people here (but.... there's a thread for that :p)

In the midst of the fallout, I've missed the new financials. I'll need to hunt them out.

I only wish you well. It's been a trying week for a lot of folks (even if that's not your reason for stepping away). Hope to see you back when you feel ready.

Totally understand, buddy. But we do hope to see back again one day!

Karzak, Will miss your posts.
OsWriter, I know I'm late in this, but I hope you're lurking. You, and Jespah have taught me a lot about the legalities of this situation. I will miss you.

Jespah, you're not leaving us, say you're not!

I can certainly understand where oswriter and Karzak are coming from. Before the events of this week, this thread and the lawsuit were an interesting distraction from the fustercluck of an election. Now, it just doesn't feel the same for me to continue keeping up with it. I'm continuing to follow the thread, but it doesn't feel as enjoyable as it once did.

Although I have enjoyed greatly the post of those who are dropping out, I honestly don't understand these huge proclamations to let us all know you are leaving; I just don't get it. I understand life priorities and having better things to do but filling the thread with departures and well wishes is quite frankly self-serving and a waste of band-width particularly in an Axanar thread. If you feel compelled to leave; just do it, we don't really need to know (well, at least I don't). If you feel the need to let the world know; please start a thread somewhere else about it. I'm sure it will be very popular!!!

Can we PLEASE stay on topic??????

Many of us like Karzak and osWriter's posts. Many of are sorry to see them go. Many would wonder what happened to them. I, for one will miss them and don't want them to leave, but I appreciate that they told us. Saying farewell, doesn't take us that far off topic. You could've skipped their posts
