News MTV developing new "War of the Worlds" series

Come on, two series in development for War of the Worlds and nothing is done for the other giant three legged alien robot vehicles. My favorite ones, The Tripods.

I've always preferred the setting in the Tripods, much more story to be told than in the War of the Worlds, which is pretty straight forward "they come, they try to conquer and then humans defeat them" - story.

It would have helped if, at the very least, WOTW season 2 had included some explanation as to why the world was such a mess.

It wasn't because of the alien invasion, you can be sure of that, because the world seemed OK in the first season.

It's good to be in the public domain. ;)

Yeah, I just finished reading Stephen Baxter's sequel that's being published in January once the copyright in the UK lapses. (The copyright lapsed in the US a while ago.)

There's a period audio drama adaptation of the Wells novel out after the New Year, too.

I like Teen Wolf, so the fact that the US is coming from Jeff Davis has me interested, but I have to wonder what's going to make this unique among all of the other alien invasion shows.
At least the Harness version will stand out more thanks it using the original time period. Have any of the other adaptations ever set it back in the 1800s? Most of the versions I know of have moved it to the same time it was made.

Interesting flashback.

Like others, I found season 2 to be a strange mess.

^ Didn't the second season do that too? Something about the lead alien bad guy finding a human in the 50's who looked like him, and then the alien killed the guy and took his place.

You might be thinking of the season 1 episode that had Quinn, portrayed by John Colicos. That one was great episode. "To Life Immortal...sucker!"

^ No, I'm sure it was season 2, because Denis Forest was in it (in the dual role I just described). In addition to Malzor, the lead alien, he also played a guy in the 50's whom Malzor killed and replaced.

edit: yeah, it was season 2, episode 11, "Time to Reap".
