The red banner at the top of the MSN news page says "BREAKING NEWS: Donald Trump expected to make video statement about his comments on women. Story is developing ..."

Yet it's quiet thus far on other news sites. Hmmm.

This really should come as a shock to no one. Trump's past history with women has been there for all to see. The best thing the GOP can do is disavow Trump and try and save as many Senate seats as they can. Trump is done.

It comes as a shock to no one but some of his own supporters. Not even Fox Noise can defend this. I'd like to see them try, without saying "But Bill Clinton...."

They can't. They literally can't.

Trump should bow out of the race tomorrow. His ego won't let him do it, but he should.

Can the GOP force him? I'm sure there are mechanisms in place for Mike Pence to take the ticket instead. Problem is, if they do at this late juncture, it'll be nothing but scandal for the next month, campaign in disarray, laughing stock for the ages, etc. etc. So they won't. They'll soldier on, they'll take the hit, and fire back at Hillary with everything they've got and see what sticks.

But I'd like to see him try and lobby for the female vote after this. And I can't wait to see what that dunce of a campaign manager has to say tomorrow.

This is worse than what McCain's team had to go through with Sarah Palin. In private, I bet they're banging their heads against the wall right now.

As I said:
No, it's Standard Operating Procedure. Like the climax of a good fireworks show, dramatic revelations are timed into an increasingly intense and compressed schedule as we head toward election day. Because amnesiatic sheep.
Like a time release capsule, this is the controlled and manipulative machinations of politics. They all do it, and they all know with glee what sexual revelations do. I don't see Trump as the point here, but the manipulative strategy of all politicians. To hear them as a whole, no politician deserves the job as each advertizes just how bad the other is.

Waiting for the next thing...

So Trump apologized. "I said it. I was wrong." And then "This is just a distraction." "Bill Clinton attacked..." and "And Hillary intimidated...."

So....the "But everyone was doing it!" excuse? Really?

And you're not running against Bill Clinton, bozo. And you really think that implicating Hillary by...tangential association (is that even a thing?) is going to exonerate you or win you brownie points?

DROP OUT.

The party can't force Trump out. At this point he has to quit on his on volition.

Even if they could force him out - what's the point now? Every state's deadline has already passed so "Trump" is going to appear on every ballot. The only way around that is to sue every state, but the campaign doesn't have any resources.

Also, early voting is already underway.

In other words, the GOP is screwed. It's either a 20% chance of winning now (but I'm sure that'll plummet next week) or a 0% chance with Pence at the top.

I also loved how he called it "a decade-old video" like that changes anything. Dude is 70 now, was 60 back then. Does he really think we expect there to be any difference in maturity and responsibility between a 60-year-old and 70-year-old?

That man has an incredible (to use one of his favorite words) history of misogyny and sexism. As a woman I find it deeply troubling that a man like that can enjoy that amount of support.

The only possible point - and it's very slim - would be that having Pence instead of Trump campaign as their Presidential candidate for the next four weeks might mean that their down-ballot candidates could stop fleeing association with the Presidential nominee.

Possibly. But this gives every single Democrat running a perfect commercial to run against every Republican who hasn't publicly denounced and unendorsed Trump anyway.

Does anyone really think Pence would be able to fill the news-hole left by no more Trump? God no. The biggest story for at least the next week would be Trump resigning. Then another week of the GOP in disarray. Then another week of Pence struggling to hold together the Trump coalition.

Then we're a week or less away from the election. All the while Clinton has (in theory) been calm, cool, and collected compared to the GOP blaming each other for Trump's disaster.

All true, but I'm working from the premise - however premature - that the GOP knows they no longer have any chance of winning the Presidency. Hence, whatever reduces the party's embarrassment in the final days is the best they can do.

Granted.

We should know mid-week when the polling taking this and the debate roll out. This might have caused a wave.

No poll since July has placed Trump below 40% other than Reuters - they're the anti-LA Times. So maybe this week we'll see if 40 really is The Donald's floor.

Just for comparison, Goldwater got 38.4 back in '64, McGovern in '72 got 37.5. So yeah, either party can pretty much count on close to 40 percent of the vote even if its' candidate were a syphilitic moose.

I was talking to my mom about this (she, unlike my aunt, detests Trump). And she says "We're gonna hear this for years to come, whether he wins or not."

Think about it. I think it just might enter the annals of history even though he's just a candidate.

"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."

"I'm not a crook."

"Mr. Gorbechev, tear down this wall!"

"I did not...have...sexual...relations with that woman."

"Yes we can!"

.................................................................."Grab them by the pussy."

NBC news even suggested the republican party is now "Every man for himself"

By Monday most will have disassociated themselves with Trump if not already.

"...the opportunity he has to show what is in his heart tomorrow night."

Seriously Pence? SERIOUSLY?

What's in his heart is that he makes fun of women for having menstruation. He calls them pigs and slobs. He mocked a beauty queen for gaining weight and went on a Twitter tirade about it just last week, DAYS after the debate, because he couldn't get his mind off it.

That's what's truly in his heart, Pence. Come on, now.

What's in his heart is that tomorrow, during the debate, he'll start out calm and measured. He'll say what his handlers have told him to say. Then after about 10 minutes he'll attack Bill Clinton on his affairs, implicate Hillary about it in some way, and then get lost on some angry tangent that insults women further.

You can bet on it.
