Federation Cyclops-Class...

Atolm

Commodore
Commodore
This has been a design that I have worked off and on for a few years. I have finally settled on the design's final shape.

I like it a lot, but, I'm still pretty confused about what I'm looking at. I'm thinking that the strut toward the... top-front?... of the saucer is a warp field generator of some sort. But what I think are the impulse engines are facing in the same direction as what I think is the deflector dish - and that wouldn't work very well. Of course, since I *know* you understand ship design, I'm probably wrong about what I think half of that is, or, there's additional information that could be gleaned from yet more perspectives?
Are you telling us that our man, Atolm is NOT a human being?
We've actually had this discussion before. :D

You're looking at it the wrong way. Compare those red "impulse engines" to the shape of the Galaxy's bussard collectors... Left is front, 3/4 is looking from front to back. That big blue circle is the deflector dish, bridge on top, Aft of the bridge (in the side view) you can see the impulse engine proper and that warp grille is facing aft.

It's a cool design, I think the warp engines would have workd better as an inverted V to improve structural integrity but it's awesome as-is :)

I'm assuming the blue circle is the deflector, so that's the front? :)

"Speak to me so I'll know which is the head or the tail"

Another beautifully unique design.

I like it :techman:. It's a custom Federation design, from my point of view.

Very nice, I would maybe squeeze it in the middle of the front arc so it would follow the cutting lines of your bridge. It makes me think of a Bathlek (sword of sort...). It could also follow the general lines of the klingon's swords.

Awesome pic showing the details on where whats what on the whats it. :)

LCARS MSD Next? :)

I love it, it would also make a fantastic hand gun.

I especially like it because it makes a much more obvious Romulan ship, but making it Federation gives it far more novelty. Also, as someone else mentioned, the Federation is comprised of multiple species, so there should be more divergence like this.

Perhaps an Edoan contribution to Starfleet? They've been pretty well overlooked and ignored since TAS... Nice design esthetic, looks functional yet not the usual federation tech/shapes. And, no, before someone asks I do not think everything designed by the edoans would have to be tri-symmetrical.
