Top Gun

Definitely other good ones there. Any Friday The 13th is good.

Platoon
and The Color Of Money were also released in 1986. Not ones I'd normally watch, but biggies.

Good list here

1986 was the first year I was able to go to the cinema on my own. Good times.

I was 3/4 that year and i still remembered seeing some of these movies in theaters even Cobra being the first R-rated film i ever saw with Aliens.

Yes Castle in The Sky is that old as i remembered back in 96 when i was 14 i saw a fansub tape of Castle in The Sky and loved it.

And second place for Transformers: The Movie

I really didn't go to the cinema much in the 80's but there a few great films people have mentioned and three of my top twenty, including one of my top three ever. In order :

Aliens
Platoon
Manhunter
Star Trek IV The Voyage Home
The Hitcher
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Highlander

There's a few like Big Trouble In Little China and Pretty In Pink that are apparently good but I still haven't seen and there's a bunch of other 'O.K.' movies, but nothing that makes much of an impression.

Just out of interest, my top three ever are Star Wars (now known as 'A New Hope') and Terminator / Aliens in joint 2nd place.
