WB's Justice League 2017 movie pre-discussion thread

I don't know how it's used in the comics now, but I'd imagine they're trying to phase it out.

Henry Cavil posted this on his Facebook this morning. Two children from the Make A Wish Foundation.

No jokes about "which one's the cut-out", please.
That is totally cool. The boy posing next to Cavill, and, even sweeter, the little girl doing the WW pose. I hope that's a sign of things to come.
Can't help wondering about this room... Presumably set up for the kids, but I don't think the standies would have been created just for that, so they might be prelim versions of publicity material.
And what are those pieces of paper on the wall at the back? Are they blank, or do they contain vital secrets of the Death Star, sorry, DC EU movies?

I did wonder for a moment if it was a 3D sculpture of Supes, but that seems unlikely. Cavill presumably put on the outfit just for the meet-and-greet, which was very nice of him as I imagine it's not a fun process.

I don't understand why people want GL. Seems a boring character with a silly power to me.

Green Lantern is one of the few DC characters I was actively interested in as a kid. As a character, he's (depending which one, of course) certainly no more boring than Superman, Aquaman or Green Arrow. And I don't see how being able to fight with your imagination is any sillier than any other superpower. It does have the issue of having often been visualized in an overly silly way (racecars and helicopters, etc) - but that's an execution problem that can be dealt with.

Looper made a video of what the DC heroes should look like.

Magic ring and lantern. He's Aladdin.

Yup. I read once that the Golden Age Green Lantern, Alan Scott, was originally going to be named Alan Ladd as a variation on Aladdin, but the publisher rejected the name as too unbelievable and had them change it to something more normal. Then, two years later, the actor Alan Ladd became famous after his breakout role in This Gun for Hire. D'oh!
