Kiwi.

Even when prostitution is illegal, slave-free brothels are far more common than brothels staffed with slaves, since slavery is way more illegal than prostitution most of the time.

When a pimp beats the shit out of you when you don't do exactly as he says, that's slavery!

You live in New Zealand right?

... I don't think I'd ever get past that massive forehead above the eyes.

<shudder>
Boy, you said it, OtherGene! Nothing like taking the most beautiful actress in the entire cast ... and burdening her character with the most horrid facial defect, imaginable. They seem to have snapped out of it, eventually, and kept trying to tone the head down, obviously ... but The Deed was done! Had her eyes been too far apart, it couldn't have hampered her looks, any worse.

We never saw Paris charm any woman on the show with the exception of that alien who wasn't really charmed...She used him as part of a conspiracy. He struck out with every woman except Torres.

He was NOT ordinary. That's crazy talk although do agree that Dawson is a pretty woman.
You've got me curious, stardream, in what way(s) do you find Tom Paris to be EXTRAordinary? We saw how he unloosed his irresistible charm on Rain, you might remember, so wouldn't it stand to reason that if he could charm 1 sexy woman ...

They were about to do a similar thing to Jadzia, but fortunately they had second thought about it and opted for the spots instead.

A transporter clone is when they assemble a person with a recorded pattern, but using foreign matter.

Someone who has been transported but isn't a clone, was taken apart and put back together gain, using the same matter.

The original B'Elanna was a Klingon human hybrid.

This B'Elanna is a human who has been surgically engineered (with a transporter) to carry Klingon DNA.

;)
yea technically anyone who gets transported is a clo e

It could have been worse. They wanted to give Roxanne 'Klingon' teeth but she mangled her lines on purpose doing her best to pretend she couldn't do it. Smart woman.

When I first saw Tom Paris in Caretaker I thought 'Damn..he's pretty,' but that was Robbie.

I don't use a man's ability to charm women to determine if he is 'ordinary' or not. As the series went on it seemed Tom Paris was able to do a bunch of things that wasn't his job. If you pay attention to all the things Janeway has him doing he's almost as much of a 'Swiss Army' Knife character as Seven or the Doctor. Sci-Fi Debris has a running joke about this.

Harry is emblematic of the stereotypical depiction of meek, non-threatening Asian-American males in popular media.

I wish he had been more of a dynamic, pro-active character, who got a promotion or three over the seven-year voyage.

That would definitely have made him a more interesting character. The writers blew it on this one.

Smart indeed. From the sounds of it, the initial make up test of Be'lanna was more Klingon than human. far more. I preferred the final choice. The subtle ridges and human teeth.

With Klingon teeth it would have been harder to believe that Tom would fall for her.
