Spoilers Supergirl - Season 2

NEW FOOTAGE with Superman, Cat, and Supergirl.

If there's one thing that excites me about that trailer it's some new shots of National city. Maybe filming in Vancouver does have some advantages.

I've been watching the repeats and watched Falling last night (The one with the red kryptonite). Man I can't wait till the premiere and to see Supergirl and Superman in action together.

I like how they parallel the scene of Kara's first flight from the pilot. And using a space-plane rescue to introduce Superman is kind of a classic move. Or a cliche, depending on how generous you want to be. Let's see, it was done by John Byrne's reboot, by Lois and Clark, and by Superman Returns, at the very least.
I feel like Superman TAS also used it.

20 days till the season premier, just enough time to rewatch season 1, one episode per day :techman:

Wear a rubber band around your wrist, and snap it, every time you accidentally watch another episode your time table did not allow for.

^^
That's for amateurs.
I've Rube Goldberged a system that leads from my TV through a series of tubes and funnels into two high powered lasers that simulate Kryptonian heat vision and are aimed at the optimal viewing position on the couch.
So it's, you know, thematic.

I hope that shot at 20s is only reversed for the trailer and not the episode itself. [/petpeeve] :)

I feel like Superman TAS also used it.

That was a regular passenger jet, not a space plane. Supergirl also had Kara debut with a jet rescue, and it was stated in the pilot that this universe's Superman had debuted by rescuing a plane, presumably not of the space variety.

I liked the S:TAS plane rescue, because it showed Superman struggling to stop the jet instead of just easily doing it. It increased the sense of danger by putting limitations on his powers, and it was relatively realistic in showing how the structure of a jet would tear apart if Superman tried to grab it in just one place. But the later series didn't bother with this. Within a couple of episodes, Superman was tossing a helicopter around like an Olympic hammer throw, and by Justice League he was back up to his more conventional power levels. Though I guess one could assume that he got stronger over time, thanks to the "exercise" of fighting so many superpowerful foes.

CW has released the first official description for "The Adventures of Supergirl", the first episode of season two.

"THE CW HAS A NEW HERO AND SHE’S BRINGING SUPERMAN WITH HER — When a new threat emerges in National City, Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) teams up with her cousin, Clark Kent/Superman (guest star Tyler Hoechlin), to stop it. Kara is thrilled to have family in town but it leaves Alex (Chyler Leigh) feeling a bit left out. Meanwhile, Hank (David Harewood) and Supergirl are stunned by the pod that came crashing to Earth. Glen Winter directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg and Jessica Queller."

It's interesting how the Pod and its occupant is being handled by the producers and in adversting. Being the cliffhanger which end the previous season you would think it would be teased in adversting. But it's barely mentioned at all. Yet the producers have already revealed who is inside.

Obviously Superman is getting the press. But I am curious how much of the episode is about Mon-El? Presumably the season starts with the cliffhanger but moves quickly to the main plot with Superman. With Mon-el becoming more of B plot side story.

Probably so as not to scare new viewers away. If you center advertising on something that happened previous season, some people might feel they'd be lost jumping in and decide not to tune in.

So it's better to emphasize the fresh start, and the appearance of Superman which is certainly a good hook ;)

I hope they don't treat the cliffhanger as an afterthought. They probably will but that's one thing I'm not a fan of when it comes to premiere episodes. The cliffhanger is dealt with in the first 30 seconds and then the new season can officially start.
