I second that - Jeffrey Combs has portrayed some of the best characters in the ST universe.
He's not my top pick by any means, but I liked Mayweather. I liked his background, liked his family episodes, liked his eager young attitude. He had more to do than Uhura in TOS and he made a good role model.
The characters from Enterprise to me were the most solid from top to bottom. There was no single character that could be" "the annoying one".

Despite his bullshit speeches, I like Captain Archer's "awe, shucks" quality he has about him. In a vague way, he sort of reminded me of Neil Armstrong, in that sense. As his hairline receded, though, Jonathan's hairstyles started looking goofy. He probably should've worn a rug, at least a partial rug, to bring his hairline further down into his face, a bit. This also would've helped him to tie into STAR TREK continuity a little more, having his own Shatneresque wig and all that, by putting him in that same "camp."
I've gone with Shran, if for no other reason than he actually seemed to be the most complex and well written (or at least acted) character on the show. I always felt that the main crew were fairly bland to risk sounding unfair and some cases those with the most presence came across as caricature rather than posessing any depth.
I voted for Trip as favorite. Mayweather and Cutler as runners-up. As for the rest of the characters, I liked Porthos better. Hey, he wasn't on the list, but someone mentioned Sluggo, so... And I don't mean I liked Porthos because he was the lesser of 2 evils. He was cute dog, I liked him.

Yes, he did. It was something big and nasty like a cross between a rottweiler and a horse. I guess the universe is only mirror for people not for their pets.

Enterprise is/was, without question, the Archer-Trip-T'Pol show* (just as TOS was the Kirk-Spock-McCoy show), so they automatically get my vote as the best characters.
* That's not a criticism at all; I'm perfectly fine with Enterprise being the Archer-Trip-T'Pol show.

I've always preferred cats. T'Pol amused me in the scene where she is put out by Porthos's smell and doesn't want him to jump on her. TV shows don't often let their main characters dislike dogs.
I voted for Archer. Bakula was well cast and he really pulled off the role.
