Why didn't Beyond do better at the Box Office?

Yep. But there certainly is better drama and comedy than Star Trek. What makes Star Trek specific for me personal is the science fiction aspect. That's purely my take though.

There's better science fiction, as well.

So then there's no reason to dismiss Star Trek's dramatic and comedic stories, based on the notion other things do it better.

I never did (once again: nice straw-man though).

But Star Trek is pretty much the A-lister when it comes to sheer volume and quality of science fiction in the live-action department. There are better sci-fi movies for sure. But they are all singular movies, not part of a big franchise. But television series? I don't know any other franchise that has such a large number of well-made and entertaining sci-fi television series and episodes. That's pretty much the unique selling point of Star Trek. Without being good at drama or comedy (or even action) that wouldn't work. But those are not what makes it special.

And, I'm not sure you know what a strawman is...

Quote: "giving the impression of refuting an opponent's argument, while actually refuting an argument that was not advanced by that opponent".

Like, for example, saying I "dismiss[ed] Star Trek's dramatic and comedic stories, based on the notion other things do it better." (which I never said) and then refuting that argument, giving the impression you refuted my argument.

Yeah... I'm going to leave this to others that have more patience than I. You've definitely pushed my buttons.

And, you can celebrate your massive "victory"...
