CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Hinman abused his authority as admin, to remove someone from a group, because of a conversation that occurred outside the group. Further where he had the initial conversation was a place of confidence that he betrayed as well.

And instead of just admitting his mistake, and apologizing he just demonized everyone else.... Thanks but no thanks...

He's now doubling down and claiming people "are sick of the drama" and leaving as a result, along with switching off any comment threads about this issue and warning people they will be banned. He doesn't seem to understand that the reason he has created a division in his group is because his caveat loaded "apology" to Matthew was clearly insincere and he insisted on sticking by the unreasonable assessment of what Matthew is meant to have done wrong, of Matthew's professional standing and of the manner that, like you say, he used an off group issue to use against Matthew. He's now controlling again. One of his most recent posts....

I haven't divided any group. Those who choose to divide it, by demanding something that it is not right for them to demand (and the drama they are creating) is what's causing a small fracture.

This is actually the same argument that Axanar fans have made ... Because they are so passionate about something, they suddenly own it. While I appreciate everyone's passion for is group, you do not own it.

We have moderators for a reason. Conversations have always been moderated. Freedom from conversation controls does not mean anarchy. There are limits.

There are people here who do not want the drama. And I'm not going to lose those people because a small group wants to keep shouting and making demands they have no right to make.

If you did not like the moderation, Rod, why stay? It's like saying I hated that hotel with the ocean view, but I stayed in it all week anyway and enjoyed all the amenities. But now I want my money back.

If you don't like something, speak up. If you don't like the response from those in charge, go on and do something else.

I appreciate that so many people are passionate about the Axanar case, but not everyone is devoting every essence of their being into it. Many of the people here just want to see occasional discussion and be made aware of news.

That's why there is no mass exodus.

But we are starting to lose people simply from the fact that this in-fighting continues. If you don't agree with how it was handled, then seriously, you've had your say. If that still isn't enough, then depart.

It's already become personal for a few of you. For what? Over a Facebook group?

There really must be something more important in your life.

I have been asked by a number of people to end this. It's disruptive.

You cannot keep creating more posts in an effort to perpetuate it.

They will be removed, and the poster will be warned.

We have provided ample opportunity for people to yell and scream. Nothing new has been offered in a while, and it has disrupted others.

The group moves on. If you are unhappy about it, message one of the admins. Message me. Or depart. I'd hate to see you go, but I don't want you to be somewhere you don't want to be.
...shows you his lack of awareness in reaslising he is the problem in this instance. He has gone full blown tin pot dictator, and in the process not only has he become like Peters, but he has also done everything within his power to justify Peters' view of him, by making himself look petty, angry, obsessive, insecure and stubborn, and therefore has made himself look like a person who lacks the humility necessary to operate with the objectiveness he has long claimed to have. It's such a shame as his claimed objective has always been to stand up against people who would exploit fans, but by letting his pride get in the way he has thoroughly undermined that cause. As people have said on the group, he should step away for a while and cool down. He's just harming himself now.

It looks like it's going to be the 2nd Facebook Axanar page that Hinman fucked up for everyone.

The original - started by the Squigs.

HInman posted an "investigation" into a LLC controlled by Peters. It is a LLC created ostensibly to purchase a home for his godchildren and his ex-girlfriend (the children's mother) in Florida.

Alec lost his mind, complained that he was being harassed, threatened Squiggy with legal action, and Squigs shuttered the group.

More than a few folks felt Hindman went too far, but he doubled down, and formed his own group.

Oh dear. I was unaware of that. I remember a suggestion that Squiggy was threatened, but I always thought it was just one of Peters' baseless rants. I didn't realise it was in response to that.

Peters' personal business outside of Axanar should not be treated as fair game IMO.

Yeah, if you look back in this thread, maybe a 1000 pages, lol, it's there. It's a situation where a "reporter" decided it was ok to publish something because "anyone could have found the information"

It was a ridiculous thing to do and potentially could have gotten a third party, Squiggy, in legal trouble.

Agreed. And all taking over the new page did was foster his own belief that he "created" the group.

It probably says something also that Michael has chosen not to comment on this here, even though he has been a member of this forum and participated in this thread since its creation. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't, but shoring up his resources and pontificating from the safety of his Peters-ian echo chamber on the FB group doesn't really encourage much faith that he's interested in actually having a discussion about it anyway.

Just posted on the CBS vs Axanar Facebook page:

Terry McIntosh
13 mins · Seattle, WA, United States
Was just served with a deposition subpoena for Axanar... looks like they think I'm willing to travel to CA for this, too. Not unless they're paying for it and can get my employer to excuse those days I'm not.

Looks like they want everything that I may or may not have, including all communication with Alec, Rob, Christian, Alexander Bornstein, Bing, Diana, Michael Spatola, and Adam Howard... which means they're likely on the subpoena list, too.

Spicy stuff!

The first thought that popped into my head: Anyone want to start a crowd-funding to pay for his airplane ticket???

Yeah, let's see how the court responds to someone skipping out on a subpoena, Terry. That'll work out super well for you.

He's now ....,snip.... One of his most recent posts....

Huh. I remember several times reading the defendant and Mr. McIntosh too saying these same things in this same tone of written voice. If you hadn't put a different name on this as the author I would have thought I was reading something else by one of them saying the same thing again.

That's actually a good question for the lawyers here. Can someone out of state ignore a subpoena? What if it was a financial hardship to travel?
Or a physical one?
@jespah!
According to a website called Law360, the latest federal regulations state that "the amendments clarify that a trial subpoena cannot command a party or party officer to travel more than 100 miles from where he or she resides, is employed or regularly conducts business in order to testify at a trial out of state."
However, I don't see why someone who is willing to be deposed couldn't be deposed in his hometown, provided the lawyers are willing to travel there, or perhaps it could even be done via Skype. As long as the documents are available and the witness is properly sworn in I don't see why that wouldn't work.
I'm just musing out loud after a few sips of Lime A Rita, so if anyone has some pie with which to bribe Jespah I would welcome her input!

The only time I had to give a deposition the Lawyers traveled to where I was and it was done in my office.
