Being a backer, I just got a sneak-peek photo of the planet set. It looks very nice. Apparently they're releasing the photo wide tomorrow. Definitely looking forward to this one!
I can't imagine it being a significant point one way or the other. Unless it's a time travel story, which it doesn't look to be, nobody will be mentioning Rachel Garrett. And Garrett is a fairly common Earth name, unlike, say, Xindi.
True. But to knowledgable Trek fans it draws attention to itself.
Unfortunately they're just renting the building, so I fear for the future of the sets... unless they become Official Set Tour South or something.Their sets need to go to a museum after the series is completed, or the location needs to be turned into a museum. I would hate to see it all dismantled and destroyed.
I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. They will toss in some familiar references while ignoring everything else. As far as I'm concerned this will be no more a convincing pre TOS project than ENT was. It's essentially an alternate continuity where some references will be familiar.I'm afraid that we'll have more than our share of that in the new CBS series, connecting the dots between ENT and TOS.
Link to Episode 7 will be released to supporters at 12 noon PDT today. General release will be tomorrow, Saturday 9/3 at 12 noon PDT.
It was announced in their latest FB post. And ....
right on time! Just got the donor link..damn, have to wait until after work to watch it!
I'm incredibly impressed on what a well-oiled machine the STC production is.. always delivering what is promised and on time!

I feel that I've missed something here. Is there a link to any info that answers whether STC has been given some official exception from CBS/P to operate beyond the guidelines? Are they just finishing production of what they already shot or are they just kind of barreling forward as if the guidelines don't exist?

JAMES [KERWIN]: We’re planning to complete four more full-length episodes.
JONATHAN [FROM FAN FILM FACTOR]: Are you planning any more crowd-funding campaigns?
JAMES: No more crowd-funding.
JONATHAN: So can you make four full episodes with the $200,000 you have have from your last campaign?
JAMES: We actually have closer to $400,000.
JONATHAN: Did I miss an Indiegogo campaign???
JAMES: No, but we had some private investors come through for us. I think we’re somewhere between having $350,000 and $400,000 to work with…and that should be enough for four more episodes.
JONATHAN: Do those four include the one coming out next month?
JAMES: No, we’re planning for another four episodes after that.
JONATHAN: So you’ll wind up with eleven episodes total.
JAMES: That’s our intention.
JONATHAN: And they’re all going to be full-length, one-hour episodes…not 15 minutes each?
JAMES: Again, that’s our intention. We want to finish up the series, and we’re going to try to make these last four episodes as quickly as we can.
JONATHAN: So the obvious question is: what about the fan film guidelines? You guys violate nearly every one of them.
JAMES: Here’s the thing that a lot of people aren’t understanding about the guidelines. What CBS and Paramount have said is: If you follow all of these guidelines, then we will not sue you. But it doesn’t say: if you don’t follow these guidelines, then we will sue you. There is a big distinction there.
JONATHAN: So you’re going to make these four episodes and hope you don’t get sued by the studios?
JAMES: Over the years, we’ve had a very good relationship with CBS. We’ve been very respectful of them, which is something that isn’t true of all fan films. Additionally, we’re a 501(c)3 non-profit entity.
JONATHAN: And you think that’ll keep you off their radar?
JAMES: We’re not planning to hide anything that we’re doing. But we want to finish our series…if the studios will allow us to. We want to maintain our good relationship with them no matter what. So be sure to tell the readers on your blog that this is only what we want to do and what we’re planning to do. It’s not a guarantee that we willdo it. We are going to try to do it because that’s what our donors have supported us doing. But in the end, and most of all, we want to be respectful of CBS and Paramount, who own the rights to Star Trek.
=================================================== MY BIT:
So 11 episodes total. Given the circumstances while it's 2 shorter than planned I'm cool with that. Combined with NV that's 22 episodes, 25 if NV complete the 'in limbo' shows (Torment of Destiny, Bread and Savagery & Origins) Tbh I doubt Cawley is in a hurry. NV had changes characters, ranks, the ship etc though which is great but you can't realistically fit both series into one continuity without wriggle room
Hopefully Continues will be able to make the 4 extra shows, then finally it's 'wrap' arc leading Enterprise into the spacedock and giving TOS closure after all this time. That's what I'd like to see, a definitive completion.
Wow, it left a major question unanswered. Anyway, Chris Doohan has completed his transformation, he is his father on screen.
And/or maybe it'll explain why a certain thing is done a few years later. If you're referring to what I'm thinking of, I have to wonder if that will come into play for whatever the final arc is going to be?
From an earlier post:
Disagree. They really laid those callouts on thick--completely kicked me out of the story every time given how obvious they were.Overall, I liked it, it did get slightly heavy on the references at points during the third act, but nothing too egregious.
