Tom & B'Elana

What is strange is that, from S1 to s3 epsiode 21 (Before and After), nothing let us think that Paris and Torres could - and would - form a strong couple at the point to get married in S5 and to get a child together in S7! :)

For my part, though I'm especially not fond of Paris/Torres, I have to admit that they are cute together ... even if at the end, their couple became annoying, losing what made Paris, on one side and Torres, on the other side, interesting as a person/officer as if the collective had got the upper hand over the individual. It was too bad!

I've seen that observation before. Some didn't like the idea that B'Elanna was so 'toned' down after she got with Tom, which, while I don't agree, I understand if someone liked the more confrontational B'Elanna. Tom grew over the seasons but I don't see how his being with B'Elanna changed him for the worse.

I think she did mellow out some, but that does make sense. B'Elanna was in her early to mid 20s in the 1st season. She earned respect, made friends, matured, started a relationship, had meditation sessions with Tuvok....she grew up

What I wanted to say is that from S1 to S3, there was B'Elena Torres one one side and Tom Paris on the other side, each equally brillant in their respective domain (the piloting for the one, the the engineering for the other one). On a more personal level, they have each so many qualities as defects and it is what makes them charming/attaching.
What I could regret is that, after to have got together, they lost in a certain way this individuality.
Hey, if we refer to what we saw in End Game, Miral seems to have inherited from the character of her mother! ;) In this regard, it seems that Paris/Torres had only a single child, Miral, hadn't they? I would have thought that they would have had several children (at least 2).

NB: I never liked the confrontational B'Elena. It became even tiring. At least, each allowed the other one to calm his/her rashness and although I know that the routine in the couple is inevitable, it's a pity that it made them boring as individual.

So ... I should be happy then for being gay because this'll prevent me from getting married and in this way I'll never lose my personality ... :guffaw:
That is, unless a borg cube comes along ... Although they might feel that homosexuality distances them from perfection so I still have a chance to survive my own individuality ... :D:D:D

I was married for almost 10 years, definately didn't loose my personality ;)

Excuse me but, 1) what the sexual orientation to have with the individuality? 2) in a group or a couple, is there not any possibility for each in protecting his/her own individuality?

Individuality: Characteristic of a being who makes him/her as he/she cannot be confused with an other one to be.
Personality is a combination of emotional characteristics, attitude and behavior of an individual

So my fellow Tom and B'Elanna fans. I just found out that both Robert McNeill and Roxann Dawson will be attending the covention in New York next weekend. I am going on Saturday!!! Unfortunately their panel will be on Sunday and I can't go :wah:

B'Elanna started out rambunctious and kind of stayed in that mode for a while, be all she really needed was a Man's love to set her to rights.

Hey ... I was joking only ... :D

I am sorry. :sigh:
Getting them both is quite an accomplishment. They are always super busy.

I don't love any of the episodes that moved their relationship to another level: "Blood Fever," "Day of Honor," "Drive." They all feel artificial to me. The plots read like trivialized contrivances to progress the relationship.

(The only exception would be "Lineage," which is my favorite episode of Voyager and maybe my favorite episode of Trek. I don't really think of "Lineage" as a progress-the-relationship episode, but I can see how it could be thought of that way, and if so, none of my above criticism applies to it.)

But I liked Tom and B'Elanna's relationship as a feature of the series, as a reality for the characters to deal with in episodes that weren't primarily about the relationship. And I liked the episodes that were primarily about the relationship when they didn't so much push the relationship forward as just explore how it worked.

I'm forced to agree regarding "Blood Fever," it did seem very artificial and forced. The very idea of Vulcans forcing their alien mates into Pon Farr was Ludacris! Some jokey ideas that get tossed around really should not have ended up, in the show. But that's what Creative Bankruptcy does. When a script is called upon and you want to get the thing done ... you scrape the bottom of the barrel, even, when you have to.

Blood Fever had its moments "Is this the part where you throw heavy objects at me?' but in the end all it accomplished was B'Elanna realizing that despite the bluster deep down Tom was basically a good guy. That's it.

I always thought that this showed how good of a guy was. He has that womanizer reputation but here is a woman that he is very attracted to who is litterally throwing herself at him begfing him to have sex with her and he doesn't because he thinks she's not in her right mind.

I have to admit I've read a good deal of fanfic where Tom didn't say no:devil:

Love BLOOD FEVER as it is. I've seen it like 100 times and can't get enough of it.
You know whenever a friend comes over to my place and we only have time to watch just one episode, it's either BLOOD FEVER or DRIVE in 90% of the cases.
