World Of Warcraft - Legion

I really do love Sylvanas. As i was watching the cinematic for the eleventyish time I was very tearful, still. I

I hope they do not FUCK HER UP like they did Thrall.

Thanks! My original Night Elf Hunter from vanilla was also called Droxine but I had her moved away to get the name free. She had a panther called Vanna.

5 more days! Can you feel the hype!?

I used the 100 boost on my oldest main and played the Varian Wrynn jigsaw sequence

WoW really has dropped all pretenses of you actually playing a video game, hasn't it?

I mean for all intents and purposes, it practically plays itself (streamlining in basically every possible area* that would allow for player input to actually result in negative outcomes/make mistakes)

*hyperbole warning

I mean, they are all quality of life improvements, don't get me wrong - I'm sure they are great for a lot of people; but really basic, fundamental challenges have been removed (like the ability to horribly gimp yourself by spec choices, or the ability to get lost during leveling, wondering what content is appropriate), and it adds up for me to a feeling of "kinda nothing matters I guess". I guess it boilds down to

what really bothers me though is the lack of a server community (regardless of the fact that without cross-server functionality, my old server Kil'jaeden-EU would be utterly dead, a barren wasteland with roughly 10 players) - the fact that I'm constantly playing with completely anonymous players that I'll never see again - and that I'm never crossing the game world to get anywhere -, it all adds to that feeling of "nothing really matters" - but that has nothing to do with Legion in particular obviously

Well having just leveled an alliance character for the first time since BC I did get lost quite a few times and I did have to figure out by running around (deliberately did not look anything up) where the heck things were and how to get places, where do the boats go etc.. I quite enjoyed it. Not sure what you mean about not having to cross the world? I was constantly wearying of the travel on my gnome, got spoiled with the main having all manner of doodads to magically take her to the varying spots.

Yeah the Broken Shore scenario is not for fighting, you could just stand there and complete it. It's not designed to be gameplay though I don't know why that is.

As for community you see more of your own server in the main cities as far as I can tell, outside of them it's all pot luck. Distinctive servers are still distinctive in my experience, but yeah you don't meet people out in the world and make friends, you meet them in trade chat, SW/Ogr and guilds. I certainly do miss that.

Well I can't argue with that, there's been an ongoing shift from "world" toward "game" for pretty much all the MMO:s. It's very hard to make these arguments and separate nostalgia and game design though. It is not guaranteed that changing all the systems back would actually make for a better experience. Putting for instance talent trees back won't bring back the novelty of meeting new friends and explorings new worlds from 2005.

There is a lot of simplistic content without any real failure states though, like the Broken Shore scenario. It's probably fine with some interactive cinematic experiences here and there though. Mythic dungeons and raids are still very challenging. It would be nice if the levelling experience wasn't totally devoid of "meat" however.

Edit: Teacake got in a post in between, my reply was mainly adressed to SPCTRE.

yeah the leveling actually shocked me on the gnome. I am not an alt person and had not leveled anyone from scratch since Cata. Now I do remember WoD being plenty hard in places at level, especially on a clothie. But leveling from 1 to 60 was.. well the biggest shock was dungeons. NO ONE DIES. I had to get to 70 before anyone died in a dungeon and that was still very rare. Did a bunch of Wrath dungeons at level and again 5 dungeons would go by with no death.

btw if you want a server that is not CRZ'd in the world apparently they are or have removed that from RP servers.

WHAT!?

I will never stand again!

(Legion adds interactions to some critters in the world, like petting cats.)

I was curious if Mr. Bigglesworth who is technically an undead would do it and yes, he sits on your lap.

You summon the pet cat, target it and do /sit and you will sit down and cat will jump on you. It is super cute.

Not sure what you mean about not having to cross the world?
basically I mean queueing for instances and battlegrounds, and then warping there, i.e. max level characters are either idling in cities or spending their time instanced

Mythic dungeons also have to be traveled to.

@teacake No I actually don't have the Cat achievement, but I now have a purpose for the remaining days before Legion!
