In A Mirror, Darkly

^ I wouldn't go that far. MU Forrest, like I said, was a typical Imperial captain in that he was strict and unyielding, but there's no indication whatsoever that he was "scheming and underhanded". He seems like the kind of person who would respect and reward those who are loyal to him. (People who are not, for example, MU Archer, who IS scheming and underhanded and exactly the kind of person Forrest does not care for.)
I don't know. T'Pol was ordered to kill Archer, she only forswore that order because Deforest died. I find that a bit underhanded.

^ Remember what I just said about Archer. Now THERE's a schemer for you. Why should Forrest put up with somebody like that?

If Archer had been a truly loyal first officer, Forrest would never have done what he did.

I watched the episodes last night - I don't think I like it - the concept is interesting, but somehow I find them not very convincing in portraying the alternate characters.
Archer's mirror for example, seems a bit over the top. And Hoshi, somehow, I see her just pretending to be slutty.
I was wondering with everyone constantly betraying and backstabbing everyone else, how could they (the Empire) arrive this far? It must be very unstable entity.
However, it is interesting to see the ENT characters wearing TOS uniform.

I loved IAMD. It's some of my favorite eps that ENT ever made. I'm a sucker for Mirror Universe stories, and I'm glad ENT could deliver one!

And besides, it has the (to date, latest) onscreen Trek appearance of my favorite actor - Vaughn Armstrong - so that alone makes it great. Turns out that Forrest is a decent guy even in the MU!
I'm not a fan of Enterprise per se but I did enjoy IAMD parts 1 and 2, I get a kick out the MU episodes.

Well, that's standard Archer, isn't it? And Hoshi was angling for power, not being "slutty" for the sake of it.

Well, yes. That's actually shown here, with the Imperial subjects rebelling, and first Archer then Hoshi plotting to seize the throne. If you look back at ancient empires, e.g. Egypt or Babylon, this is not unusual, and does not mean the empire is unlikely to last. As long as power is monopolised and used ruthlessly, the empire persists.

I like the original Mirror, Mirror, but this one seems like the shallowest kind of fan service to me. It just seemed like an excuse to get the Enterprise cast into the old uniforms and onto the old bridge. What was the point?
What was the point of Mirror Mirror? The point is to see the world and the characters from an unusual angle.

What's a great deal more amazing is that the same people keep marrying the same people and having the same children with them, in spite of leading completely different lives and being very different people, morally speaking.

The one series that should've done a MU episode was TNG. Data with a goatee.... God, that would've been gold.
Oh, I agree, that would've been the only way to present Data, in the MU! You're right there. But ... I must be Frank & Ernest: I'm really glad that TNG never did a show like that. It would've cheapened the series, I feel ...

They cheapened enough the series with some episodes of Season one (mostly), anything more would have been overkill.

I don't parade it, for all to see, with great regularity at all, here, but ... my love of TNG is without limit. And that includes the First Season of it!

I live for the catfight with Yar and that guy's wife! Meeeeeowrrrrrrrrrr ....!!! Pffffffft ... pfffffffffffft .... reeeeeeOWRRRRRRRowrrrrrrr ....!!!

The TOS Mirror characters are over the top and so are the Enterprise ones. I liked that touch myself.
There was one scene after Archer offs Admiral Black and the other Admiral comes looking for him where he's definitely channeling Shatner for a few brief moments.

And I gotta say the scenes with Archer/Sato were a helluva lot sexier than any of the forced gratuity we get in the original timeline, not the least of those reasons being that it served a purpose beyond cheap fap fodder. I still laughed when she offed him and made out with Travis as he keeled over.

Travis had better watch out, he's probably the next one on the list.
