now that I'm thinking about it, there are so many episodes with them flirting before Day of Honor
Also:

"Dreadnaught": Paris offers a sympathetic ear when Torres expressed her regret over a past mistake that's come back to haunt her.

"Worst Case Scenario": When brainstorming about stuff to add to the Voyager mutiny holonovel, Paris suggests to Torres a love story between the pilot and chief engineer (e.g. the fictional versions of themselves).

"Before and After": During Kes's travels to her past (but the future for us in the show's "present"), Torres and Paris are shown to be romantically involved as of the first version of the Year of Hell (something that had not yet happened in the "present" of "Before and After"'s season).
Yes, so many really great scenes showing the building of their friendship through flirtation to marriage.

I'm so glad they didn't do some silly Tom/Seven/B'Elanna triangle. I'm glad they didn't do any triangles. The Kes/Neelix/Tom was as close as they got and that wasn't even very close (unless you count Before and After but that's stretching it!).
Yeah, I could do without hearing Neelix's fits of jealous rage and semi-stalking behavior.

Also, of the characters in VOY Torres and Paris are far and away my favorites. They have great chemistry together, but also give a more nuanced performance that was really informed by the actors. That their relationship came naturally and grew in stages made them even more appealing.

My thread's being hijacked!
By Tom and B'Elanna!

You could actually start a "Kes appreciation thread" or something similar. You might not get too many visitors but the ones that would regularly check in would keep it going.
Or it could simply be an "Everything about Kes" thread. You could provide background info, input material, etc. Of course, haters would also jump at the opportunity to voice their opinions (as loud as possible :sigh:) but this tends to be a general feature on this board (and on others) so you just can't avoid it.
JMO, of course.

Good idea. Something I would consider.

As for haters, I consider the risk rather small since this forum is very civilized these days! :techman:

I agree. I have been rewatching the show and I've always felt that these two characters received the most development. Also in all of the interviews I've read these two actors have talked the most about approaching producers to discuss their characters. I have always thought that Robert Mcneil had great reactioa to things. You could see the worry in his eyes whenevee B'elanna was in danger. And Roxann Dawson is amazing too.

So, who really regrets Kes' early departure?
I do! :wah:

And maybe she would have dated a different alien in each episode, like in that awful Darkling.
I like "Darkling". One of my favorite episodes.
And Kes definitely had better taste than poor Deanna Troi who always did seem to hook up with the wrong guys. Slimeballs like Devinion Ral and Ambassador Alkar make Neelix look like Prince Charming himself.

I regret that Kes was written off. If they wanted Seven, they could still have her. And Kes would still be there. Maybe Kes could help Seven with the transition. Nobody was let go on DS9 when Michael Dorn as Worf joined the cast.

There was no way she could have stayed as a main character with Seven also on the cast. That would have put them at 10 cast members. As it is they had the largest cast of any series

So, who really regrets Kes' early departure?
I do. I like her, she brings a lot of warmth and gentleness to the show.
I've already mentioned elsewhere that if I had been in charge, I would have started the whole journey in a different way. For me, it's evident that on a long journey like this, people will come to stay aboard permanently. So I would have started out with 5 or 6 main characters only. If they hadn't found Neelix in the first episode, this would also have added to the sense of being lost in space. He could have joined them in Season 2, Kes in Season 3, Seven in Season 4 without anybody leaving.
Also, I would have kept Rain Robinson as a regular. She and my beloved Thomas  ... would have been quite a pair (not necessarily in the romantic sense but their sense of dry humour would have cracked me up quite a lot, I guess).
Having said that, in contrast to most people I like THE GIFT. I thought it was a wonderful send-off for Kes. And I hate FURY - the only thing I really don't like about this show.

And maybe she would have dated a different alien in each episode, like in that awful Darkling.
Now what is it this time? Did Kes neuter those aliens ... or what?
I thought DARKLING was an interesting episode and a beautiful one at that. For me, the whole Nekrit Expanse was pretty interesting and so were the stories taking place there.

And Kes definitely had better taste than poor Deanna Troi who always did seem to hook up with the wrong guys. Slimeballs like Devinion Ral and Ambassador Alkar make Neelix look like Prince Charming himself.
A quick question for all TNG fans since I hardly know that series: isn't Troi Riker's girlfriend? Or does she cheat on him with all these people?

I think Neelix would be a wonderful boyfriend. He is sweet and caring.
Now I'm afraid I can't agree with that. At all, really. I think Neelix would be a wonderful friend. But as to his sex appeal ... it verges upon zero, actually.
Now Thomas Eugene Paris ... he would make a wonderful boyfriend ... :luvlove::luvlove::luvlove: To quote Neelix, "he's just one big hormone walking around the ship."
Sounds very good to me ... :guffaw:

Nobody was let go on DS9 when Michael Dorn as Worf joined the cast.
I've often thought about that myself. Was he brought in for the same reason as Jeri Ryan, i.e. the show wasn't doing well as regards ratings? No one can accuse the producers of DS9 of wanting to "sex up" that show, I guess.
In any case, at least no one was sent away. I suspect more must have been going on with Lien than met the eye.

Won't argue with you about Tom making a wonderful boyfriend :adore:
As for Neelix....having just come out of a terrible marriage to a jerk I find his sweetness appealing.

As for Deanna and Riker...they used to be a couple before the show began but he broke it off with her to persue his career.

But in the relaunch books they are husband and wife ...
Sorry to hear that your marriage didn't go as planned ... You should get down to the holodeck to have a little fun:

I think they ran out of ideas for her.
If they did, then they weren't doing their job and should have been fired.

However, it's abit strange that they actually did manage to come up with good Kes stories up to the last minute brfore the character was dumped. How could they lose their skill and inspiration so quickly?

I also heard that she developed an allergy to her make up and that's why they changed her hairdo toward the end, to hide the fact that her ears weren't made up.
