I know you could if you wanted to, I just don't see the need. I guess it's down to where each viewer's idea of what needs explaining and what doesn't meet.
Sorry? Whom are you talking to?

I see.It was meant in reply to your comment about 3 years being plenty of time for more refits.
The Kelvin Timeline faced much larger threats in a shorter time as well.Let's try this again shall we?
KELVIN TIMELINE:
The USS Enterprise NCC-1701 is launched in 2258 (Star Trek '09). It looks like this:

Then (in the end of Into Darkness or between STID and Beyond) it gets a major refit and it looks like this:

In 2263 it gets destroyed and the NCC-1701-A is launched (Beyond).

Then between 2271 and 2273 (before TMP) there is a major refit and she looks like this:

Kelvin Timeline: one major refit and one brand new ship (E-A) in the span of 5 years.
Prime Universe: one major refit and one brand new ship (E-A) in the span of 41 years.
The Kelvin Timeline faced much larger threats in a shorter time as well.
If by larger you mean in size and length you've got that right! Let's see, we have the 1500 meter dreadnought Vengeance, we have the 8000 meter mining vessel Narada and lastly the miles-long swarm of Krall's drones! Either that or the Prime "E" had better captains!
But in all seriousness you are right that usually movie threats tend to be "bigger" than TV threats. In my above post I'm just stating the facts. And as I've said before, I like all 3 nu1701s and I loved Beyond.
The TOS Enterprise had 4 appearances from 2254 to 2271.
And the ship had been in service about a decade when we saw her in The Cage, which means she could have had several changes before that. In Discovery we may see what a Connie looked like in 2245 when they launched.
She had three appearances in 3 episodes (Cage, WNMHGB and The Man Trap) which is 3 in 2 years (1964-1966) on a physical model that had to be changed in a span of weeks or months at the studios expense.
The Refit was a totally new model altogether, starting out as the Phase II model, then hurridly changed to the Refit when the Motion Picture was chosen to be produced and all Phase II sets etc repurposed for the movie.
Which is actually 5 designs from 1964 to 1979, that we know of. It's the most changed design of starship ever in Trek, and that was before 1980.
Wrong.
Nope. Come back when you're old enough to vote and maybe I'll care.
Get a room, you two.
Hey, come on now. We gotta raise revenue for Trek 14 somehow! Not until you remove that peephole, I've told you before.![]()

Now get in the gimp suit.
They're not losing money on this. They're just making less than they thought they would.
So you've seen their account books? Please share.Unfortunately that's not the case, they're losing money.
