To be clear, I didn't see it having much either. My HOW GOOD was more like how good is it to know that Moffat is a genuine fan (trust me, you don't listen to the Doctor Who audiobooks unless you really, genuinely love Doctor Who), not that being a genuine fan would make you act in ways contrary to the good of the show (I strongly feel that being too beholden to prior works is NOT placing the good fo the show/story first), or that they'd act in anything less than a professional manner. I don't think Moffat listening to the audiobooks makes his episodes any better or worse- that's almost my point, that he listens to them just because he wants to. That's fandom.I don't see it having much practical significance.
So I expect if I read that Fuller actually read Trek novels, no, it'd make no practical difference in his running of the show. It'd mean he does it just because he wants new Trek stories. That sparks a certain frisson for me, I'm not sure why. I wouldn't be disappointed or surprised if he didn't (as you say, he's probably more busy than I've ever been), but I'd be happy if he did. Isn't that why we come to the TrekLit BBS, because we like talking about the novels with people who have also read them?
