Event alluded to by Bryan Fuller.

One thing i'm not sure anyone has noticed is that Fuller never quite said the "event" in question was referenced on TOS specifically. His actual quote is below.

“There’s an incident and and event in Star Trek history that’s been talked about but never been explored."

This leaves a LOT of room to guess. Could be any event referenced in any of the 5 series.' If I had to make a shot in the dark, i'd say Station Salem One, if only because it's something that i've always wondered about!

Given the rumor that there's a Klingon in the cast, could Station Salem One be the "bloody pre-amble" to a Klingon war with the Federation?
I thought that. But apparently he later clarified that it was an event specifically referenced in TOS. What's most confusing about the information we have so far is that Fuller said different things to different people, worded differently, which were then interpreted differently by different news outlets. Look at 'female lead' versus 'female captain'.

I just re-watched "I, Mudd" last night. Although the plot was fully fleshed out, there was very little information revealed on the origin of the androids, other than the fact that they were from the Andromeda galaxy. Could their origins be the the "mention" that Fuller referred to? With robots? Just speculating...

If only we knew the episode that Brian Fuller is referring. If it is for example, oh I don't know, "Whom Gods Destroy"? Then we would take a guess. :rommie: :klingon:

In Into Darkness, Marcus commented about a possible upcoming war with the Klingons. While taking place in an alternate universe, this statement was supposed to be a direct reference to "Errand of Mercy" and the Klingon/Federation battle in space before the Organians stopped it.

Knowing that there will be Klingons involved in the new show, based on leaked concept art of Klingon fighters and a "sarcophagus ship," then it's only logical to assume the event alluded to is this battle, or at least the events leading up to it. In that vein, the "Undiscovered Country" reference makes more sense (not taking it literally to mean that the show takes place after that movie as some had originally speculated, but rather just the politics of what happened; i. e. an assassination leading to war.)

OK, so why hasn't someone been re-watching every TOS episode and reporting back of all events talked about but not shown?

And no jokes about bathroom visits, because no one ever has to pee on Star Trek.

Where can those leaked concept arts be seen? I'd very much like to see it.

These are supposedly concept art of Klingon starships (exteriors and interiors) done by the Discovery's production designer Mark Worthington:

It's only concept art so there is no reason to panic yet… :brickwall:

One of the characters of DSC is supposedly a Klingon captain (friend or foe?), we have Klingon battlecruiser (warbird?) concept art, TUC somehow comes (?) into play and Amanda Grayson may (or may not) be involved. Rings any bells? :shifty:

I'm betting the event we see that was referred to is the fight on Rigel VII.

I'm getting behind the theory that the Lieutenant Commander is Number One. She transferred off the Enterprise shortly after "The Cage". The Captain might be the minority woman.

Could I be wrong? Absolutely. But this has me thinking.

Those designs look beautiful, I dare anyone to disagree with me on that... but, it does seem strange that Klingon Battle Cruisers would look like this.

Quite frankly if it wasn't for Axanar, I think we'd all be fully convinced by now Discovery is about Garth.

The Garth theory fits, but I think it's too negative for a Trek series. It doesn't seem like what Fuller wants to do. He's also said that the arc involves the main character coming to understand herself so that she can understand the aliens that they're dealing with, so that doesn't fit either. I'm more inclined to think it has something to do with the Preservers, which would be more in line with the themes of exploration and discovery.

Cochrane did in First Contact. I think that may be the only documented case.

It would also be difficult to avoid mental health stereotypes and caricatures about the 'insane' that were fine for Star Trek and Batman in the 60s but would be seen badly these days. Doesn't seem like a trap Fuller would dive into willingly.

I'd love that.

Honestly, those are beautiful, but the aesthetic is closer to that of say Lexx or Farscape. I'm not sure if they would fit into any previous Trek design styles for the major races.

Hugo - still, lovely art

I'd love it if the captain in DSC turns out to be Garth, but it would be kind of a downer ending - knowing what will eventually happen to him. :(
