I wanted to get an idea about people's current feeling about DIS's setting. There has been a lot of heated debate and I am sure there will be for a while. This poll is just about your reaction to the time period, not the other tidbits that were revealed, though those could have influenced your opinion.

I hope I was able to put enough options to cover the response close enough.

I wanted the post TUC and pre TNG period. But I generally favour diplomacy and mystery/intrigue stories, over action and conflict.

If it was set then, I would have warmed up faster. I was in denial when the teaser showed 1031 and was with the few hoping there was some apocalypse or that the letter F or something was concealed. I also think that the Movies era was kind of implied by the ship design, not ~20 years prior so I could see people warming to that idea and then being a little dissappointed.

I'm interesting in seeing what is done with this series. TOS was never really my trek, as I grew up with the movies and TNG etc. If they avoid the "hero worship" of TOS and focus on telling stories as just another ship in that era - the show will be for the better.

I voted that I don't care one way or the other. I want quality writing, plots that draw me in, strong characters.

I'm not a fan of the prequel setting, if I'm honest, but the other information was positive and I'm still looking forward to new Trek and to see what Fuller and the team do with it.

As long as it's well written, I don't care.

I do prefer that it's not set post Nemesis though.

I voted don't care, although my preferences would have been TMP era, post-TUC, or post-DS9. I'm more than cool with pre-TOS though, just make it good. :)

Initially I was gonna vote "it's OK but I wanted a prequel set in a different period" as I really wanted a "Lost Era" prequel TV show. If I was the producer I would develop an Enterprise-C series:

I would structure it so the last episode would lead to "Yesterday's Enterprise" and their sacrifice. The Lost Era would be perfect for an anthology format as each season we would have been able to see different ships and different crews: Enterprise-C, Excelsior, Enterprise-B, Stargazer, etc.

But in the end I'm just happy we have a new Star Trek series on TV after 10 years and that's what I voted. Plus, I don't care what anyone says, I just LOVE how the USS Discovery looks!

It's Trek back on TV, where it belongs, the only care I had about setting was for it to be Prime, just when I wasn't all that fussed about.

That's my feeling. The Kelvin Timeline is ok for the movies but that's where it should stay.

I wanted it post Voyager but I'm not too upset about it being set where it is....

I wanted pre-TOS, but in a new continuity unrelated to classic Trek or the new movies. A Gotham to the movies' Batman V Superman.

So I'm halfway there, although from what I've seen and heard it seems they're going to "reimagine" the era visually and likely take some liberties with the story too - so I may have my wish after all.

I hoped it would be set right after Enterprise, to show us the birth of the Federation and the Romulan War, but I'm fine with this period. I wouldn't have mind a post Nemesis or The Undiscovered Country either. I'm glad Star Trek is back where it belongs.

I'm not happy with the time period. In between TUC and TNG or post Nemesis would have been my preference. Though it's Star Trek and it's back as a tv show so I'm still excited. I hope it doesn't suck balls like the last tv prequel.

I am wondering if this could lead to one-off online movies or if that is even feasible when it comes to cost. Kind of like the anthology idea but in 1.5-2 hour chunks. This way they could hit up different eras and just expand the universe.

I'm OK with the setting. I would have preferred to see the Romulan War, but I'm still interested to see what they have under their sleeves in the Pike-era. What I really cared about was for it to be set in the Prime universe, and that has already been confirmed so I don't really have any problems with the setting.

I voted for the second option but wish I didn't bother. Being 'Very Unhappy' at first is putting it a bit strong I think. When I found out the time period I think there was a mild annoyance, and then I remembered that it's going to be awesome either way. ;)

I wanted it post Nemesis/Voyager but the only poll option for me was "very unhappy". I've picked it but I'd say I feel more like "slightly disappointed" than "very unhappy". It's still new Star Trek though so bring it on!

I added another option I think better addresses both of your opinions.
