"And anyone who disagrees, I define as a hater."

perhaps AP could set up a crowd funder for a re-edit of STB entitled 'Star Trek Beyond Axanar' with the Ares cgied instead of the Franklin and Garth revealed as Krall (played by Alec Peters in the final minutes)

Right now he is too busy hoarding remaining funds to pay for toilet paper.

If I'm reading the timestamps properly, it looks like Axanar posted this after TampAxanar.

Neil

Then, considering what TampAxanar said, it's all the more humorous (or groan inducing) - either way, LFIM just proved what everyone already knows (though it's too bad the Axalytes seem incapable of seeing this for themselves)

I believe this is the Enterprise video you spoke of. Made within the new boundaries forced upon us by the overreaching production in litigation. Not what I've grown used to in size, scope, detailed story telling. With cgi almost zero. Yet... the amazing crafting of a single moment in the lives of two people in extreme crisis continuing to function admirably within it; fear, regret, resignation, gratitude, duty, sacrifice ....... two actors, six minutes, tiny practical sets.

I'm very impressed with Needs of The Many. A great story with ST universe verisimilitude drawing one in emotionally with an excellent use of tension. Proof positive a fan film vignette within the new guidelines can be enjoyably creatively compelling.

A refreshing fun contrast that's the polar opposite of the cash grab ego bloat boatload of fail Alec & Co. wallow in.

I see a two - tier approach based on a similar list... if there are "easy to find" violations than the fan production gets form letter that basically says "Hey bub - you might want to modify this film - or else."

If the fan production does not respond or change within 30 days, then the case gets kicked up to a more important person and their team, which then run the film through the whole gauntlet of guidelines and make a recommendation as to whether or not to pursue legal action.
I think you presume a more, shall we say, strident policing effort than CBS has indicated it's interested in. Fan films shouldn't cost the copyright holder money.

It's more likely there'll be a red flag approach: i.e., if you call attention to your infractions you'll likely hear from them. Say your 60-minute-long fan film goes viral. Then it turns out you had it written by RMB.

Or someone who follows fan films alerts CBS. Trouble ensues, I should think.

I think their level of attention remains to be seen, but a combination of my idea of their eventual policing methods and your idea of their eventual policing methods is likely.

I sooooo wish this had been the real movie, just to watch all of their heads explode...... and it would have been a great nod to TOS, anyways. Stupid into darkness would have made that reveal seem repetetive, though. Mann, that would have been fantastic to see though :D

yes and Cruise or Crowe could've been Krall/Garth (thus ensuring bigger box office)

What I love about well made shorts like this is the way they fire up the imagination in ways getting the entire story doesn't. It's best to be left wanting more than left wishing this fan film would be over already. I'm eager to see what else we see.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned thus far..........but the more I think about it, the more I think that this particular niche of fandom is better exhibited in a print/web format. This obscure stuff was born in print (thanks to FASA) and because it's obscure like I said, then it should stay there.

I'm not saying LFIM couldn't have brought it to film.........he certainly could have if he would've kept his ego in check and not royally screwed Christian Gossett and his people. At this point though, either get a web site or blog going and just go to town or leave it to the pros (like with STD).

We need to bring back the text-based Star Trek RPG, like the The Promethean Prophecy.
