Star Trek at SDCC 2016

I was actually saying a few weeks back that I would love to see the McQuarrie designs on screen - but I do wish the warp nacelles on this were like the McQuarrie ship, then I would really love it.

Looks like the series will be pre-TOS to me, but maybe set in the Kelvin Timeline?

Not exactly a pretty ship design, although that is not the most important part of the series. I was hoping for some more news about the timeline, plot and if they have already actors cast. When it comes to the timeline though, the oldish looking ship and registry number seem to imply a time not too far in the future. Maybe a little before TOS played. Early 23th century?

well if it's pre-TOS then it's actually most likely both Prime and Kelvin, just like Star Trek Enterprise.

Something more like this would be perfect:

No, this is great. Primitive looking ship maybe, but sooo appropriate for a pre-TOS show. It's what NX-01 should have been. I'm sure it will grow on us. Unlike the people on ST:ENT, they have the guts to go true vintage.

What was the registry, was it NCC-1031?
I think this means nothing for the time period.
The ship USS Yamato (NCC-1305) with a nearly same registry plays in times of TNG

The video is down now. Weird. Why put it on youtube for only a few minutes?

It's working. Looks like trek fans killed the internet. lol

It looks like they tried to emulate the pattern on the saucer from the USS Franklin in ST Beyond.

I know it's was test footage but i actually perfer the design of the Franklin than of the Discovery. but i'll hold out until i actually see the thing in action in January.

They've gone for the Ralf McQuarrie Enterprise design. Poor choice IMO...

This is exactly what I was thinking.

It's a variation of the Ralph McQuarrie design way back when they were first doing concept art pre TMP. That said it looks like more JJtrek type design style. Yuch..

It was the Yamato NCC-1305-E, 5 generations later.
