*Potential Spoilers* What will the Alternate Enterprise-A look like

The A looked great, sure they will tweak. My fear is JJ will screw it up again along with the script by not using Jung n Pegg again. They got ST correct IMO + Lin

I'm really not in love with that enormous registry and how far forward it is on the lower saucer. Still a pretty cool design, though.

The new A looks fine except for gigantic registry and the pylon connection on the nacelles. As others have said move them back a bit and it'll be alright.

I may be the only person here who actually liked the nacelles being so close together on the last one. I was scandalized at first but I grew to like it pretty quickly, so I'm not too keen on moving them further apart but it really doesn't look bad on these screen shots. I also like the increased bevel on the new saucer, though maybe it's just teeny bit too much. Does anyone know of some accurate schematics comparing the 2009 E with the Into Darkness E?

This is truly an amazing exercise. Over several groups and bulletin boards, everybody has a different reaction nitpicking something on the ship. Registry is too big, ship is too big, ship looks small, the secondary hull is too large, the engine struts are too far forward, the nacelle domes are still blue. lol Everyone has such definitive, pre-concieved notions about what starships are supposed to look like.

Wow, this one is even bigger!
I'm bettering the new official is 1000 meters

Not sure about that - I counted 9 decks in the neck of the ship - which is the same as the original timeline Constitution class almost, assuming they weren't just girders or something. If that's the case, maybe they are going for a smaller size?

Some people are never satisfied Rama.

Inevitably there will be those who will be hoping that the ship has shrunk as well when it's more likely to be bigger even if only by a small amount.

Ridiculous when you think about it.

Weren't ceiling height already higher on the Kelvinverse Enterprise than the Prime universe ships?

Also, it seems the neck and secondary hill of the new A has more floors than the previous Enterprise, so it's likely this ship is more massive

So many observations seem contradictory. Maybe we'll need to wait for the CGI guys to show us a model before we can really tell.

It's far to early to say one way or the other, this happened when the previous two films came out, everyone was a bit to quick to make judgements and ended up looking silly.

Personally I think the Captains Bidet is far too large and there's a danger he could fall in and drown, oh and the colour of the walls in his quarters make me feel ill. :barf:

I think it's best to not lump all of these different nit picks in one. They're individuals with their different opinions on what they think would look good. It's not some kind of a consensus or anything.

Based on the lights and their locations the new ship looks about the same size as the previous one, perhaps a bit bigger, the dish definitely looks bigger but that could be a trick of the light or camera angle.

It doesn't look smaller to me from the picture you have posted.

Some of those lights look like they are on the under edge of the saucer rim at the front, if they are the saucer is definitely bigger, could be shadows playing tricks though.

Here's some caps of the A

Well, I will say this, I think the designers of the Enterprise-A are TRYING to listen to the fans who had issues with the alternate Enterprise 1701. The two big complaints a lot of people, myself included, had were that the nacelles were too large, and the pylons were too close together. Seems they made an attempt to change both. Also, I noticed that the neck has moved forward some. Odd that the Abrams 1701 saucer resembled the TMP refit more, and it seems that this 1701-A saucer more resembles the TOS version. Otherwise, this looks like the first Abramsprise. Granted, these aren't the best angles, and the schematics haven't come out, yet.

Overall, I think its a good improvement. My only real nitpick is the rear of the secondary hull still seems too thin.

I don't know. There are differences among all of them. But as far as I'm concerned, there's not a clunker among them. They're lookers. To me, the quintessential starship in science fiction/fantasy. Fifty years and the basic form has never changed or needed to change.

Maybe I'm unrealistic, but one of the very few disappointments that I had in the movie was that I was hoping the new Enterprise would be the classic or motion picture refit version. I was thinking It would be one more nod to the 50th anniversary

The technology of the Kelvinverse appears to be way above the level of the Prime timeline's. So any ship that looked like the TOS or TMP Enterprise is probably equivalent to decades-old designs in the Kelvinverse.
