Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

The point I'm making is you that if one writes CHARACTERS instead of TYPES a person of any gender or whatever is a casting option and thus why the wonder bread whiteness and Y chromosome dominance of casting in most is movies appallingly narrow.

Emphasis mine. What always gets me is that people keep checklist of stuff like this, race, color and gender. You would think if true equality were desired, people would be pushing for all that not to matter, because as humans we are all equal. See, I as a viewer don't notice it. I don't notice if the cast is half black/ half white, etc, all male, half male, all female or a special ethnicity, though perhaps if it were a 100% of one or the other 100% of the time we would have reason to complain. It's the story and characters that have always engaged me. I think that's what we should all strive for and what the Trek world has always envisioned, a world that someday none of that will matter because we will all be equal.

A nice short video. I just love the ST theme.

Oh wow I'm so jealous of anyone who gets to see that in person. I saw Into Darkness with a live symphony and it was the best thing ever. And it sounds like Giacchino has done it again with an awesome sound track. I am so excited to see this movie.

My prediction for RT score: 92%
Predict the Rotten Tomatoes & Metacritic score for ST : Beyond
Current score: 92%

It's now 93%, 2 more percentages and it will be tied with the first one.

I saw that. I figured they would do something.

I wonder since Beyond is getting so much good press and is doing well review wise if they will fast track Star Trek IV? or do you think they wanna see how much it makes at the box office before even deciding something like that?

They are supposedly already working on '4'. It is in another thread on here.

I think it's release might even come down to Saldana's schedule. She's going to be pretty busy over the next few years, and it would make little sense to leave her out, unless they recast, I suppose.

Paramount really needs to figure out how to get '4' out in the next 24 months if Beyond does as well as they seem to be expecting. I think one of the things that hurt Into Darkness was the long wait.

I would be very shocked if they didn't start production sometime by mid-2017. cause most of the cast's current films are either in post production. (Karl and Simon are the only ones currently filming movies). and Zoe is attached to the Avatar sequels but we'll see if they actually get made. it seems Cameron is dragging his feet (not that i really care).

I mean if Star Wars can put out sequels every two years why can't star trek?

Because Star Trek actors are almost all in demand for other movies.

Paramount does need to release ST14 in 2018 if they're to avoid drowning in Star Wars and related spin-offs.

If the script is already being tweaked, possibly even an adaptation of the 'rejected' one, then we could have a draft by Oct/Nov/Dec 2016 with pre-production Jan/Feb 2017, filming Mar/Apr/May/June 2017 and post-production until May 2018.

In terms of money, hopefully if Paramount & Skydance continues to partner Chinese investors, get rebates for filming out of California etc, it makes the officially green lighting ST14 easier.

Of course, if the opening weekend is a good one, it'll be a given!

Are all the tv spots that are being posted in this thread the same ones that are actually being aired on tv? I just saw one during a commercial break that I had never seen before. It was mostly new footage but only one real spoiler.
Bones flying a Swarm ship while talking to Spock on a communicator. Bones tells Spock to stop "backseat piloting."
