What are your favourite fun movies?

Can't believe I forgot Kung Fu Hustle!

Occasionally, I have on the Asylum production of The Land That Time Forgot. A rather cheesy show...but once in a while it is fun to watch something cheesy.

Often, a good action film is my poison for a fun time:

Obviously the daddy of them all... Die hard. Followed by the third (which is arguably a more 'fun' film than the peerless original) then the second one. I can barely tolerate the fourth and the fifth is beyond shite.

Cliffhanger. Now there is a damn fun film, one of the very best action movies and certainly one of stallones best. John lithgow is hilarious in it. Watched it recently and it still holds up.

Then we have in no particular order, speed, executive decision, both under sieges (2nd one is outrageous fun), lethal weapons, road house, point break (classic) total recall, T2, true lies, mad max 2 and fury road, Misson impossibles to name a few.

Other fun movies?
Superman 1 to 3
Back to the future trilogy
Ghostbusters
All the rocky films.
First two beverley hills cops.
All star wars
Pacific rim
The three Indiana jones films that exist in my world.
Total recall
Armaggeddon
San andreas
Flash Gordon
Falling down

Speaking of Die Hard:

That bit about beating jet lag by walking around barefoot on the carpet and making fists with your toes? That totally works. :techman:

Totally agree with your assessment of the Die Hard movies, but am not a Stallone fan so have never seen Cliffhanger.

Based on your choices, I am wondering if you ever saw the Death Race remake, starring Jason Statham? That was pretty good, and the first sequel was even better. (3 was rubbish, but some of the actual racing was good.)

I wouldn't call myself a huge stallone fan, he's made a hell of a lot of dross outside of Rocky, Rambo (and a couple of those are shaky) and a few others but Cliffhanger is a preposterously good piece of entertainment. I purchased the blu ray a few weeks ago and watched it with my other half (who hates these types of films) and she loved it. For a film made well over 20 years ago it holds up extremely well, and the whole cast look like they are having a lot of fun, especially Lithgow, Rooker, Stallone and a few other of the bad guys. I can't recommend it highly enough. It's right up there with the very best in the genre for me.

I'm very surprised nobody has mentioned Guardians of the Galaxy yet.

That is such a fun movie to cheer you up.

Once you get past the whole Peter Quinns mother dying infront of him at the beginning part. I actually skip the first chapter now when ever I watch it.

Any movie without too much of an involved plot is fun to me.
As far as fun action movies, I love Red and Red 2. They are almost spoofs of "real" action flicks without actually trying to be.

Some classic fun movies:

Animal House
Army Of Darkness
Blues Brothers
Cannonball Run 1
Evil Dead (both)
Godzilla (anything but the 1995 version)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
UHF
Young Frankenstein

I would go so far as to say 98% of my DVD's and blu-rays are fun movies. It's just where my taste is.

I've been watching the old St Trinian's movies...... Yes they're not politically correct at all. They are the opposite of that and from a different time. But had fun. For some of you oldies out there here's a picture of the cast...
