Contest: ENTER Misc. Avatar Contest: Independence

Tora Ziyal

Vice Admiral
Admiral
(Edited to add: This is the AVATAR contest!)

A Fourth of July parade, or a baby taking her first steps, or the movie, or whatever else makes you think of independence...

No larger than 200x200, please. You have until Thursday, July 7 to enter. Have fun!

Nice choice, you might want to change the title of the thread so it says what contest it actually is.

The nature of true independence is independent thought.

ooooh that is great topic!!!
LOL you beat me, Kai. Kant has always been my favourite philosopher. But I'm sure I'll find a different way of independence this weekend ;)

Sadly--what I think of...is an old folks home. Lots of vets and knowledge.
few if any visit. I've visted non family members at rest homes a couple of times. Might be a nice thing to do Monday.

Oops, I thought it looked kind of short. I can't figure out how to change it. Could a mod help me out, please.

If you click on "Edit" and "More Options," you can edit the title-- but there's a time limit, so it might be too late. A Mod would still be able to do it, though.

This is the Dorchester Heights Monument. Dorchester Heights is where George Washington took command of the budding Continental Army during the Siege of Boston in the months leading up to the official declaration of independence. From this position, Washington was able to drive the British army (and many Loyalists) out of Boston. Dorchester Heights is technically in South Boston, but it's a stone's throw from my old neighborhood in Dorchester, where I lived back in the 60s.

^^ We had that at our local theater this past season. It was fantastic. :D

Often it seems the only way to have true independence in this world, is to have access to copious amounts of cash. Money may not be able to buy happiness, but it sure can buy independence. (And I'm not entirely convinced about the happiness thing, either. I'm thinking I'd be happier if I had more of it.)

Sorry to be all cynical, but that's just sort of where my mind's been lately. :(
