    Whaaaat!?

You're obviously a sexist if you prefer a male character to a female character!

Yes, because complaining about the writing of a lead character in two 120-minute long films is just as bad as complaining about a few lines in a TV spot and making assumptions about a movie we haven't yet seen.

    Perfect comparison.

In fact, there is no comparison.
I said that I don't see Spock/Bones as friends in that clip from the beginning because, as interviews from cast as well the movies so
far support it, they are not yet at this point. You keep reinventing Uhura's scenes and character to find pretexts to belittle her (not even talking about just the last examples) and criticize her (while giving a pass to your faves for much worse behaviors). Your example is, frankly, worse because you have whole movies contradicting things you said.
In either case, you are the least person who can tell me that I look for things to complain about when you are doing that all the time.

All I said was that I don't like Uhura in the new films? Where am I reinventing her scenes and character to find pretexts to belittle her?

Again, making assumptions. Do you just guess I'm doing something wrong because I don't agree with your opinion?

Different people may look at one thing and come away with different interpretations. That's fairly common, and you're under no obligation to agree with each other. If you each try to explain your interpretations and the other still doesn't understand, that's also fine, and it's better to have attempted the explanation and been unsuccessful than to merely throw up one's figurative hands and say "I don't have a clue as to how you could look at X and see Y."

The back-and-forth sniping needs to stop, though - both of you. You can disagree without resorting to taking pokes at each other, and if you reach a point where further explanation isn't advancing the discussion, then that's the time to move on: before it gets personal.

Well unfortunately I can't edit my previous post that did come off as totally sexist that's what I get for responding quickly on my phone.

What I mean to say is I have not enjoyed the way that they have elevated Uhura over bones in the new series. Elevating a female character can work however the way Uhura has been written has not worked for me, not with how great Karl Urban is as bones my favorite part of every movie so far.

I find that a lot of Uhura's scenes just don't play well or work for me compared to how much I enjoy Bones. The scene In STID on the ship talking to Spock about their relationship was just awful.

We did however the premier is today and apparently there is a review embargo till the 21st that tells me that there is some trepidation over the performance of the film. Normally reviews would be released earlier. A day before is not definitive sign though it just means that the studio is unsure of how fans will receive it. They want reviews and word of mouth from general audiences coming out around the same time.

LMAO, dude, I was just kidding. Chill, I get what you mean. It's just that some people think you can't not like Uhura in these new films without being a "sexist" or whatever from reading and talking about the subject on other sites.

There's nothing sexist about saying you prefer one character to another. Don't get all hung up in the gender thing.

No worries I just realized that my stupid phone changed the word can to can't which totally made me come off like a sexist tool lol.

Apparently there's already a YouTube review for the movie up but I'm not sure if it's legit yet.

I like Kirk, Spock and Uhura as the big three. It seems to have evolved organically and it works well for this version of Trek. I'm sure that a lot of that is thanks to both Saldana and a well written Uhura.

I don't know. I know it's subjective but the back and forth on their relationship is probably one of the more "real" moments for me in the film. It felt that there was a history and a relationship there, rather than just quips.

Kind of like how Bones and Kirk get. And the impression I get is now that they've established certain relationships in the past two films, there will be different dynamics explored in Beyond.

I was noticing, while watching TV, that I am seeing more commercials for "Suicide Squad," which doesn't come out until Aug 5th. Than I am for STB. Not sure why. I think there should be plenty of commercials for the movie by now.

They are certainly doing their advertising due diligence. Practically every bus shelter and phone booth I've seen on my walk to work in NYC has a Beyond poster, and I just noticed while watching my MLB TV account that they are doing Beyond ads in-between the innings.

I think the S/U relationship will probably as strong as ever. Of course not knowing where the scene with S/U and her wanting to give the necklace he gave her appears in the movie (I tend to think before all the bad stuff that happens to everyone) there is a scene where they kiss that I saw in one trailer that I think probably happens when the crew reunites.

I was watching America's Got Talent, saw commercials for Suicide squad. not one for STB. I wish the bus shelters in the DC are had Beyond posters on them

If that review is real, it drops a potentially MASSIVE SPOILER.

Seek and watch at your own risk.
