Spoilers Arrow - Season 5

Interesting choice. I just saw Coleman in Roots, and I remember him from The Expanse. He's a pretty imposing fellow with a strong voice.

Both of these are fantastic news, IMO. It'll be weird to see Coleman as a villain after how much I loved Tyrese, but he'll do great.

Hm. That brings me back. Back in 1979 there was a "wheel" of serialized adventure shows on NBC called Cliffhangers, and one of the three shows in the wheel was Stop Susan Williams, starring Susan Anton as a reporter investigating an evil conspiracy. Somehow that's the only one of the three shows whose title I still remember. I don't remember much of anything else about it, though.

I remember Cliffhangers.
That's the one I don't remember though.
I remember the western & Dracula but not Susan Williams

No idea why that's the title that stuck with me. It's not even a very distinctive name. Maybe it was the repetitiveness of "Susan Anton as Susan Williams" that stuck in my head. (I don't think it's because I had a thing for Susan Anton. I was barely starting to notice girls at that point, and I was much more fond of brunettes than blondes.)

There was Dracula and I think the other was Secret Empire, about an underground super civilization in the old west.

Now I want to see this series.

From what (very little) I remember, I'm not sure how worthwhile Cliffhangers was. Wikipedia reminds me that it was inspired by old adventure serials, with Stop Susan Williams being a take on The Perils of Pauline and Secret Empire being based on The Phantom Empire. Maybe someone figured that the recent success of Star Wars as a pastiche of old Flash Gordon serials meant that riffing on other cliffhanger serials was a good idea. Filmation's Jason of Star Command had done much the same thing just months earlier; its first season was a complete serial consisting of sixteen 15-minute chapters.

And I was wrong -- it wasn't a wheel series. Rather, each episode included all three serials in one hour, about one 15-minute installment of each -- which was about the same length as a typical serial chapter in the old days. Another thing borrowed from Star Wars was that the serials began "already in progress," and the show was cancelled before Susan Williams and Secret Empire could be resolved, though their conclusions were aired overseas and the former was recut into a TV movie. Oh, and it turns out it was created by Kenneth Johnson (The Bionic Woman, The Incredible Hulk, V, Alien Nation). I'd totally forgotten that. I usually quite like his stuff, so it's odd I don't remember Cliffhangers more fondly. Maybe I was annoyed by its incompleteness.

I'm sure it's cheesy, the one existing commercial for it on Youtube suggests as much, but it sounds fun. I'm old enough that just mentioning "Susan Anton" brings a nostalgic smile.

Some good bow and arrow work. The show could stand to have more of that.

John Barrowman now a series regular across all CW/DC shows -http://tvline.com/2016/07/08/arrow-john-barrowman-series-regular-flash-legends-of-tomorrow/

^ It was the series regular part that got me. The wording makes it sound like he'll be an opening credit regular on three shows.
