I don't know if this was asked before, but does anyone know if there will be an ebook or iBook release for this?
Er, the link includes a Kindle edition....
Which still has the old cover (and costs a lot less). Is it the old edition?
From 'audet IX to Zytchin III, this book covers it all. This is the ultimate reference book for all Star Trek fans!
Added to this edition are 128 new pages. This addendum highlights the latest episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine®, Star Trek: Voyager® and the newest feature film, Star Trek: Insurrection™.
The thousands of photos and hundreds of illustrations place the Star Trek universe at your fingertips. Planets and stars, weapons and ships, people and places are just part of the meticulous research and countless cross-reference that fill this book.
I can't with any of the books I have. There were no changes I'm aware of between the hardcover and paperback, but it looks to be the case here:That's just cover art, though; can you confirm that any of the actual content in the book itself changed for those?
Personally, whether TAS is included will have minimal impact on my decision to purchase. I'm just not that invested in that particular series.
Agree, 6 series[all seasons] and 13 films should all be included in this October 2016 book. It is not like we are asking for fan made episodes/films to be included. Otherwise is this just a repackaging of existing books with limited additional information added. This is this 50th anniversary of Star Trek first airing it would be worth the price to have it be complete.I may not be that interested in my National Geographic Atlas's page on, say, the North Atlantic, but I'd still consider it a shortcoming if they left it out.
I have no problem with you not needing TAS included. I am sincerely talking about the publisher, writers and editors of this new book, not you. Like you, I am expressing my opinion towards them.To be fair, the "limited" information that I'm aware of includes a great deal of information on at least DS9 and VOY as well as the entirety of ENT and presumably at least two of the Nuniverse films.
I'm just saying, calling it "limited" seems like an unfair understatement of the situation.
And as I tried to indicate with my use of YMMV, I was merely expressing my opinion on the matter, not suggesting that anyone else should feel the same way.
The Amazon review states: "This new version of the Star Trek Encyclopedia is a reissue of the 1997 edition, plus a 128-page supplement of additional material that updates Deep Space Nine to the end of its run and Voyager to midway through season five. It also covers the movie Star Trek: Insurrection. ..."
So, if this is true is does not included seasons 5-second half, 6 & 7 of Voyager, Enterprise, TAS and the films Nemesis, ST2009, STID, STB .![]()
Yes, thanks. I found a review of the 2016 edition at Trekcore.Yeah, that review would be for the third edition, released in 1999.
It's not a Kindle book, but I got a Nook versions of the first book in The Wheel of Time series, The Eye of the World, that had messed up page numbers. I recently removed it from my tablet and redownloaded it, and the numbers had been fixed. So sometimes updates will change the contents of an e-book, at least with Nook books. That's just cover art, though; can you confirm that any of the actual content in the book itself changed for those?
