Anton Yelchin dead in rollaway car accident

An absolute tragedy. He was a young man who was mastering his craft and had so much more to give. In the movies I have seen him in he has done wonders with what he was given. When I think of my favorite role of his it would be Odd Thomas. It's a damn shame.

I don't care how many threads there are about him, I'm posting in them all. RIP, Anton. :weep:

As I just posted elsewhere, I'd only seen him in Terminator, Alpha Dog and the two Trek movies but he was good in all of them. 27, jeez, just a child, really.

As I said in Beyond thread, I was so sad to hear about Yelchin's dying. :weep: That is way to young to die and in such a way as well. I really feel for his family and cast members. I noticed in a few of the articles I read that there were comments from almost all but Pine. Of course at the fan event he said most of his scenes were with Anton so I can imagine he's pretty upset. They seemed like a pretty tight knit cast. Thoughts and prayers for all! :(

Anton's colleagues and friends have posted their feelings about his passing.

Actresses Sofia Boutella and Kat Dennings also took to Twitter to say something about Anton:

By the way, am I the only one who finds JJ's handwritten letter addressing a dead man somewhat weird?

This is so terrible, I couldn't believe it when I heard the news. Just 27 years old and an only child. My heart is breaking for his mother and father right now.

RIP Anton, you will live forever through your work.

When I heard this I was shocked. The way he died was awful. There was no one there to help and he died alone. I only hope it was quick and the poor guy didn't suffer. RIP Anton.

I think it was JJ's way of being personal. I thought it was rather touching. Much warmer than the average computer written message.

This was devastated when I heard, still hard to believe. Did not see all his films but he had such a bright future.

I loved him in Odd Thomas and Fright Night. We didn't get to see a lot of him in Star Trek but I'm sure he would have come into his own as Chekov in the new movie. Very talented actor and gone too soon.

Anton wasn't killed in an automobile crash. The car rolled and pinned him against a pillar crushing him.

It is going to be interesting how the new Anton is written into the series and movies.

Sad, sad news, so young, just getting going. A great loss. Condolences to his family.

I'm not handling it well.

If there is to be a 4th film I doubt very much Chekov would be recast (similar to Paul Walker in FF). Far more likely it'd be explained hed been reassigned to another ship (reliant)

They now could bring in Saavik if they so chose. Regardless, won't be the same without Anton.
