Anton Yelchin dead in rollaway car accident

I wonder if it's too late to add a scene in the next movie where he is killed off.

I hope they don't do that.

There is nothing inherently wrong with recasting. If there is a fourth film (which, even if the actors are contracted for one, probably hasn't even begun to be written yet) that's probably what they'll do. Or they could simply say that Chekov transferred off the ship.

Thought this was a spam post when I saw it in the thread list. Such a shock.
So did I. I just logged in for a moment to check my alerts and saw this out of the corner of my eye. I thought it was a joke.

Suffice it to say I'm utterly shocked and speechless.

He was way too young.

I've always liked him since Huff. (Yes. I'm one of the five people who actually watched that.) And I thought he did a great job as Checkov.

RIP friend. :(

OMG! So sad! RIP!

He was such a fantastic actor. You can tell he really did his "homework" for his roles. I mean in Terminator Salvation, he acted like a young Michael Biehn through and through. It was an amazing performance, imo. And he was just spot on as Chekov as well.

He will be missed.

Agreed. No need to kill him, just a passing line that Chekov is doing well at his new posting on the Reliant.

RIP

It's one way to address it, but I'd not see an issue recasting the part. I'd say that only Quinto and Urban have really made the parts their own.

Far too young to go though.

I just saw this. It took me completely by surprise. I googled it, once it came across news feed, and then immediately came here.

My sincerest condolences to Anton Yelchin's family and friends. :(

Really talented guy, RIP. And, fuck, people, learn to use the parking brake.

That's horrible, he was so young and the way he died ...

They won't recast, as much as I liked him, Chekov wasn't an essential character, they'll either kill him off or haven him transfer to another ship should there be a fourth movie with this cast. Recasting after Yelchin's death would be in nad tase imo.
