I don't mind the Joker's look except for that stupid looking forehead tattoo.
Isn't he constantly spreading his Joker gas throughout Gotham?Yeah, because falling into chemicals is the same as selling them. That's like saying that Peter Parker should have become an arachnologist because he was bitten by a spider, or that Barry Allen should have started a meth lab because he got doused by chemicals in a lab.

I like your point. I think the idea is like the original X-Men movie--how could these characters exist in the real world.Just the be clear, Ayer never said the Joker was going to be a drug lord, just that he was inspired by real world drug lord's Instagram accounts.
Would it be out of character for the Joker to sneak his Joker toxin into some pot or cocaine or something like that? It seems to me like the kind of thing I could see him doing in darker, more adult story like Ayer seems to be going for here.
He didn't say the Joker was a drug dealer, just that they, as criminals, were part of the inspiration for the look they wanted. Why shouldn't the Joker take some cues from actual criminals? Come on, the Joker dresses in purple suits, trench coats and wide brimmed hats. That's Pimping 101.I don't know if putting in a lot of effort is a good thing when the idea is so stupid. I think that "Drug Dealer" may be one of the few bad guy professions that I've never heard of the Joker being remotely connected to in any incarnation. It would be like if they took their inspiration for The Joker by researching pimps. In fact, a drug lord is about as far from the Joker as you can get when it comes to bad guys. I suppose it doesn't matter. This won't be the movie to improve the DCEU's reputation, at least as far as I can see. Maybe Wonder Woman will raise the bar. DC should really try to stop hiring people who seem to actively hate both DC Comics and/or anything not grim and "edgy".
Um, the Joker's MO is based on chemicals. People don't get a rictus grin and die from his one liners. He's used his chemical prowess to kill people, poison the water supply and mutate fish. He knows his way around a chemistry set and could teach Walter White a thing or two.Yeah, because falling into chemicals is the same as selling them. That's like saying that Peter Parker should have become an arachnologist because he was bitten by a spider, or that Barry Allen should have started a meth lab because he got doused by chemicals in a lab.
In the contemporary world what kind of guy is going to form a gang of criminals that end up in a chemical plant? Terrorists. So should he be an ISIS agent?
Isn't he constantly spreading his Joker gas throughout Gotham?
Okay, so what do you think Joker should be based on?
Tony Soprano, Pablo Escobar, Michael Corleone? All drug dealers.
In the contemporary world what kind of guy is going to form a gang of criminals that end up in a chemical plant? Terrorists. So should he be an ISIS agent?
Instead of just providing critiques, give us a clear picture of who the Joker should be in a modern movie in a contemporary context. Frankly, I'm tired of your critiques that don't provide reasonable solutions, so think about it and come back with a good answer as to how the Joker should look and why. Please.
So do the actual performance, writing, and directing matter here at all?He should look like any main universe Joker from the character's creation until, I don't know, Grant Morrison ruined him. So, like the Batman: TAS Joker. At this point though, I'd even take heath Ledger's look. Basically, he's a psycho with some class, not some idiot who tattoos his face or dresses like a complete tool. He has a timeless look, he doesn't just dress like a "realistic" criminal. He's a freaking supervillain, and a crazy one at that. The terms "modern", "realistic" or "contemporary" should not be used to describe The Joker's look. He has his own style, and making him look like a generic drug dealer/gang member is just atrocious.Yeah, Classic Joker may have a look based on old school mobsters at the time, but it became a ctimeless look. This Joker is the kind of garbage we got from stuff in the 90s, very "modern" stuff that was stupid at the time and aged about as well as a carton of eggs.
It doesn't really matter, I guess. The Joker as a character is already screwed by having an asshole actor who sends used condoms to people, and a writer/director who seems to hate DC Comics anyway. At this point, its probably better not to use the classic Joker. The classic Joker is the one DC needs, but its not the one DC Movies deserves right now. They've made their bed, let them have the worst Joker in the character's history. When their movies fail or get rebooted and don't get tainted by morons like Snyder or Ayer, the actual Joker might come back. Until then, they get what they deserve. A terrible in-name-only character to go with all the other in-name-only characters in the DCEU.
All that means is: Purple clothes, green hair, white skin and red lips. So it looks like this film has it covered. He should look like any main universe Joker from the character's creation until, I don't know, Grant Morrison ruined him.
Though it does look more Robert Williams than DC.I love the idea that that poster really embraces the comic book roots of the characters.
