Super Dreadnought - TOS Style

I'm participating in a Star Trek 50th Anniversary group build over on AST. The theme is Star Trek TOS naturally; my contribution to the cause is a super dreadnought made out of two Polar Lights 1/1000 scale TOS Enterprises and some parts from an old F-16 Fighting Falcon snap-kit. Anyway, here are a few pics of where she's at now. She still needs her deflector dish installed along with applying decals and finishing flat coats but she's come a long way in a little over 2 months...

I admire the workmanship, definitely... I even like some of the choices with the main dish...

But I think I'm pretty well on record about super-ships and weapon-greeblies at this point to do another rant here. :)
 
Looks like it started with the TM DN, but was expanded upon with other parts and a reworking of the secondary hull.
 
brilliant piece of artistic skill. This is definitely my favorite interpretation of this ship.
 
I must admit, at first glance, this design wasn't working for me at all. But after a glancing at it for a few days now, it's really grown on me. I look forward to the finished piece!

The gun barrels did look more like something you'd find on a 20th century battleship I have to admit so I bloomed some fiber strands and inserted them into the ends of the fore and aft gun turrets. I think this makes then look more like phaser weapons now.
Of course for those who just think turrets are out of place on starships then, well, to each his own I guess...
