A few years ago a movie was in the works, but now a new producing team is set to bring the epic series to Syfy
tv.

"Set on the eve of Armageddon with the entire galaxy at war, Hyperion is the story of seven pilgrims who set forth on a voyage to seek the answers to the unsolved riddles of their lives," reads the press release. "Each carries a desperate hope and a terrible secret—while one may hold the fate of humanity in his hands."

The adaptation will be produced by American Sniper’s Bradley Cooper, who according to Screenrant cowrote a spec script for the project back in 2011. Joining Cooper as executive producers will be Graham King (Argo, The Departed) and Todd Phillips (The Hangover). Boardwalk Empire writer Itamar Moses will be penning the script.

That would be pretty awesome if they were to make a mini-series of it. I'm a big fan of the Hyperion Cantos.

This is a pretty ambitious undertaking by Syfy. But it is not clear if they are just doing the first book, or the first 2 books or all 4 books.

btw, whatever happened to Syfy's Ringworld project?

I remember reading about this last year. The Hyperion Cantos is a great read, though I hate the sheer vindictiveness of the ending of The Rise of Endymion. I wish Syfy luck if the project goes forward, its one hell of a massive undertaking.

Still underway, according to the Wiki page-- although it doesn't seem to have been updated since last year. The IMDB page is essentially blank.
